Required Summer Reading for Rising Fifth Graders To receive full credit, turn in your book report by August Find the rising fifth grade summer reading assignment on the TCS portal. 2. Read one book from the list. 3. Complete the log and book report on the back of this flyer. 4. Read 15 chapters from Psalms aloud to a parent or grandparent to practice fluency and to enjoy the beauty of God s Word. 5. Turn the forms in by August 24. 2 REQUIRED SUMMER READING LOG: RISING FIFTH GRADERS Student s First and Last Names: Choose a book from the list on the portal. Ask your parent to preview it and sign below. After reading the book, fill out the book report form below. Choose any 15 chapters from the book of Psalms in the Bible. First, ask your parent to read each one aloud to you and explain any unfamiliar words. Then, read each one more than once to practice accuracy and fluency. List the numbers of those you ve read. The summer reading is a required assignment (except for newly enrolled students). Turn in the completed log and book report to your classroom teacher by Friday, August 24. The Lexile score listed on your child s recent standardized test results can also be used as a guide. Since most websites list books by Guided Reading Level (GRL) by Fountas and Pinnell, find the GRL on the chart below that is equivalent to your child s DRA Level.
