It wasn t exactly qualified, but it has been a rewarding privilege. You will hear from me once more before your new board assumes office and I cast off lines and head back where I belong. Please Remember our annual General Membership meeting is Wednesday November 7. We have very important items of interest to discuss. We must address our current pool situation. It will be a Koi pond by spring if we do nothing. We would like to facilitate constructing a pool and pool area where we can relax and enjoy a place of respite. Please come be part of the solution and enjoy fellowship with fellow members. The bar will be open and thank goodness. Some of us might need it. The Saints are, well I m not going to say it in fear of voodoo, but the games are worth watching. The club continues to open on Sundays. What a great place to enjoy the game, and Sandy is still serving food. Thursday, December 6, one of our favorite professional musicians, Kelsey Moran, is bringing her band and rocking our night. So mark your Google calendar and come enjoy tunes after dinner. And remember to sign up for club texts for up-to-date notifications. 3 House I think Fall has actually made it s arrival and we have enjoyed some beautiful days and evenings! The club started the month off with Cruisin the Coast! We opened downstairs on Monday the 1st for the Cruisin Kick-Off Parade and upstairs the Cruisin VIP/Sponsor Party was being held. Thank you to Steve Rice for cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs and to Pam Rice, Terri Oehmichen, June Wiggins, Shelda Jones and Patty & Charlie Coleman for your help. We had our Country Cruisin Breakfast on Thursday, Friday & Saturday (the 4th-6th). We always enjoy meeting new Cruisers and visiting with the ones who return from year to year and our local Cruisers as well. I would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the breakfasts: Bo Clarke, Donna Painter, June Wiggins, Dixie Huch, TJ Brace, Debbie Cox, Robert Brace, Joe Fleming, Sandy Pace, Shelda Jones, Patti Steagall, Scott Painter, Alice Barnett, Becky Schruff, Marion Bowman, Kathleen Kranz, Missy Wiles, Millard Quigley, David Powell, Susan Woodward, Robert Kranz, Terri Oehmichen, Edgie Dorris, Julie James, Skip Cox, Dana Burke and Dennis Wiles. If I left anyone out, it was certainly unintentional. We appreciate you ALL. As I always say, it takes a Village and we have a great one. We appreciate all of your hard work and dedication to the success of the club. This was a very successful Cruisin week! We followed Cruisin with our semi-annual Bunco on Wednesday the 10th which was a lot of fun with good food, door prizes and the traditional Bunco prizes. Thank you to all the cooks for the delicious dishes, those who provided door prizes and a big thank you to June Wiggins, Sandy Pace, Chris Harris and Martin & Kathy Jones for all your help. AND THEN another Fabulous Halloween Party on Saturday the 27th! June Wiggins & Marguerite Hess did an awesome job on the decorations the club looked amazing! Thank you also to Sandy Pace for your help. The winner of the dessert contest was an entry by Sandy Pace and Lynn Hunt the Skull Cake. Thank you judges I m sure it wasn t easy since there were many good looking and tasting desserts. There were great costumes and it seemed that the most popular one this year was the witch and we had quite a few that flew in on their brooms to enjoy an evening of fun! Music was provided by Eddie McDaniel and was great, as always. I think I can say that anyone who was there had a good time. The General Membership Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 7th. Complimentary red beans & rice will be served at 6:30 and the meeting will start at 7:00pm. Our annual Thanksgiving Pot Luck Dinner will be on Saturday, November 17th at 6:00pm so mark your calendar and plan to attend. Our member, Tom Stokes, always says we have the best cooks on the coast! The club will provide the turkey and ham. We continue to have on Thursday nights bring something to put on the grill and enjoy the wonderful sides prepared by Chef Daniel and delicious desserts prepared by Sandy Pace. You can t find a better deal anywhere! Sandy also continues to serve very tasty and reasonably priced Friday night dinners and we d like to thank Shelda Jones for making her Oyster Artichoke Soup this past Friday night. Thank you also to Commodore Hill for bringing us live entertainment, Deja Veaux, on Friday the 19th. A good time was had by everyone there! 4 Friday Night Bell-Ringer Joe Fleming Friday nights are hopping. Every Friday night all Club members who purchase a meal or an adult beverage gets their name in a drawing to win a $50 bar tab. But the member must be present when the name is randomly drawn between 7 and 8:30. Winners in October were Kenny Woodward and Tom Barnett. Those that had left the building before their name was drawn were Ed Keefer and Dottie Becker. Come to the Club to enjoy a light, inexpensive meal and stay until you name is drawn. Membership Alice Barnett Our short membership drive for the week of cruising the coast yielded a few applicants. The following persons will be considered for membership at the November board meeting. Don Roberts-reinstatement Darrolyn Hunt Claudia Baldwin Cali Baldwin-junior member This brief member drive may not have brought as many members as we would have liked, however, we were able to showcase our club, our hospitality and our great group of members. That being said, just being a member is not enough. We must also participate in the club offerings. I had the opportunity to play Bunco last month. I met members of this club whom I had never seen before. What a great group of people and man can they roll some dice! I would encourage all of our members to come to your club on a regular basis, buy a drink, have dinner and attend our monthly functions. Not only does the club need your annual membership support, but it needs YOU! Croquet Marion Bowman Club Croquet Fun Tournament We will play Golf Croquet, a simpler version of what you have learned. Everyone is welcomed, even if you haven't played croquet in a long time. Come out and have some fun. Nov :30a.m. to 4:00p.m. We will have 3 teams. We need 12 people, 4 on each team. Captains will be Shelda, June and Marion. Please contact these people to be on their team. Cost $10 includes lunch. Prizes for the winning team. We did this last year and had lots of fun. Please come out and enjoy croquet played a whole different way! ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REMINDER Our Annual General Membership Meeting will be held Wednesday, November 7th with complimentary red beans and rice being served at 6:30pm with the meeting beginning at 7:00pm. Election of officers and voting on a proposal for spending on a new pool are the main agenda items.
