She sent us this photo of her showing posing with AJ outside her office!! She said she had traffic stopping on this one!! 2 Fan Club member Gail Barter was sooo excited when she won back stage passes just before Alan s show in LA. It was truly a well deserved dream come true!! 3 Who wouldn t want Alan Jackson for Christmas?? Platinum Member Joyce Prendergast got a great surprise when she went to her son s house for Christmas and saw her Lifesize Standup of Alan!! 4 Platinum Fan Club member Kristy Leaman had the honor of meeting Alan backstage at the Detroit, MI show. Kristy says It was the most exciting day of my life 5 Rose Christine is a Platinum Fan Club member and sent us this awesome photo! This is a photo of her senior water exercise class. On this day they are exercising to Precious Memories!! The perfect album for any occasion! napshots Chelsea Bryant, a 5th grader, created this presentation on Georgia and her favorite famous person from George Alan Jackson. At her presentation she displayed her cowboy hat, AJ t-shirt, guitar pick and even played AJ s Greatest Hits Collection! Needless to say she got an A!!!! Robert McLaughlin recently became a member of the Platinum Fan Club! His mother sent in this photo of him at the last AJ concert. Looks like he s got his hat on and is ready for the big show! 8 Platinum Fan Club member Debra Venable sent in this photo that we love!! She says her cat Cash has made himself the king of my heart...it appears that Cash has made Alan the king of his heart! 9 Sharon Manning, a Platinum Fan Club member, sent in this photo of her grandson AJ (for Ayden Joseph) all decked out in his AJ t-shirt! Sharon s AJ attended his first Alan Jackson concert at the Grand Ole Opry this past March! Sharon also has another AJ connection. Her son is also an AJ Andrew John! 5 congratulations alan! Precious Memories won Country Album of the Year at the 38th Annual Dove Awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The GMA Dove Awards is gospel music s biggest night of the year, where top artists from every style of gospel music come together for a night of music and celebration as the GMA bestows gospel music s highest honor the Dove Award. tune in memorial day weekend! 7 photo by Joanie Creson fan review STANDING IN THE SPOTLIGHT ALAN JACKSON by Joanie Creson Country Music star Alan Jackson gave a dynamic performance at the New Orleans Arena on Nov. 4. The artist, known for such mega-hits as Chattahoochee, Who s Cheatin Who, and Don t Rock the Jukebox, was decked out in western wear, from his hat down to his boots. Jackson focused on his number one hits in this fun-filled 90-minute performance. He opened the show with his signature Gone Country, while audience members sang along and danced in the aisles, as they did for the majority of the show. Jackson performs while music videos appear on huge screens in the back of the stage. He water-skis while wearing cowboy boots in the Chattahoochee video. It s Five O clock Somewhere, a duet with musician Jimmy Buffett, is a real crowd pleaser with audiences. Jackson and his wife, Denise, slow-dance to Remember When and Jackson s three daughters appear with him in the Drive video. Jackson gives us a taste of his latest album, as he sings the title track Like Red on a Rose. Scenes in and around New Orleans appear on the screens when Jackson performs the song Where I Come From. Much to fans delight, live cameras pan across the audience as everyone waves at themselves up on the screen. Jackson sings his Little Bitty tune as cameras capture close-ups of little fans in attendance with their parents. The evening turned somber as Jackson performed Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning, a touching song about the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America. Audience members held up cigarette lighters as Jackson sang this. In Nov. 2001, after an awards show premiere, the song was rush-released. It sky-rocketed to the top of the country charts shortly after. As one of the most popular country singers of the 90s, Jackson s music appeals to listeners of all ages. At the concert in New Orleans, fans ranged in age from approximately four to seventy-four. Jackson penned many of his own hits, including Midnight in Montgomery, Livin on Love, and Chasin That Neon Rainbow. He co-wrote several songs with Randy Travis, which include the Travis hit, Better Class of Losers, and Jackson s jazzy She s Got the Rhythm and I ve Got the Blues. Jackson never strays away from his traditional country roots. Two of his musical influences are George Jones and Merle Haggard. Jackson grew up singing gospel music in church. In February he released an album called Precious Memories, a collection of 15 hymns. The project was originally planned as a Christmas gift for his mother. At the end of the show, fans cheered loudly enough to get Jackson back out on stage for an encore. In the middle of performing Mercury Blues, Jackson signed autographs as he strutted his way from one end of the stage to the other. 8 anote from the fan club HEY I have to apologize because I m late getting the newsletter out this quarter. Abby and I have just been really busy since the beginning of the year. So many exciting things are going on so far this year, like touring with Brooks and Dunn. It s like getting two shows for the price of one! You can t ask for a better Y ALL country concert ticket. Everybody on the production crew has been busy gearing up for an exciting show. From what I m hearing it s an entirely new show!! I can t wait to see it! We re also really excited about Denise s book coming out this summer. We ve had lots of requests for the Fan Club to see the book through the website. We are working on the details as we speak and I think we are going to be able to have a special pre-sale, like we do with Alan s CDs. So stay tuned to the website for more details. I hope you ve gotten a chance to hear LIVE at Texas Stadium with Alan, George Strait and Jimmy Buffett. Its Alan s first ever live album, which includes his very popular bluegrass version of the Eagles hit, Seven Bridges Road. All the songs are great and if you close your eyes you feel like you re at a live concert. It even makes me wish I would have gone to that show! I m not sure how many of you tried to contact us the first week of April, but the Fan Club office was closed. Abby and I, along with some other gals from the business office, were treated to an amazing trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, courtesy of Alan and Denise. We got to go deep sea fishing a couple of times, although we didn t catch any marlins or sailfish. We went shopping and laid out by the pool basically had a few days of fun in the sun. I wanted to share some pictures of our wonderful trip. Well I better wrap this up and get it to the printer since I m running behind. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful summer!
