4 Taispeántas / Exhibition "Landscapes of the Gamhanraidh in Erris and Beyond" (Táin Bó Fliodhais The Cattle Raid of Mayo) The Táin Bó Fliodhais Cattle Raid of Mayo revives a wonderful saga of a small part of the history of the landscape during the 1st century A.D. Déanann scéal an Táin Bó Fliodhais Táin Mhaigh Eo cuir síos ar ghné den saol, mar a bhí sa chéad aois A.D. The oil paintings, needlefelts, pen and ink drawings and the artwork of the local primary schools which make up this exhibition attempt to recreate the Celtic landscapes and people of Erris at a time when powerful Kings and Queens ruled over the provinces of Ireland, and cattle were a symbol of wealth and power. 8 Taispeántas / Exhibition The Ardizzone Collection Coiste Oidhreachta Iorrais (Erris Heritage Committee) are delighted to have acquired four more original drawings by the renowned illustrator Edward Ardizzone. The drawings are on permanent exhibition in the Courthouse Foyer at Áras Inis Gluaire. The drawings are all from T H White s book The Godstone and the Blackymor which is set in Erris. The four new additions brings the collection at ÁrasInis Gluaire to twelve. There is a renewed interest in Ardizzone as a retrospective of his work opens in London later this month. 10 Musical Theatre for Children 10+ This fun and upbeat musical theatre course draws inspiration from choreography on the West End and Broadway stage. Each class starts with a choreographed warm up to get your energy levels up. You will then learn some ballet and jazz technique and, following that, you will be taught choreography to a diverse range of musical theatre numbers. 20 Dráma / Drama Mullet Drama Group present Two 1 Act Comedies A Galway Girl & Shakespeare s a Dick In A Galway Girl a couple sit at opposite ends of a table reminiscing about their life together. Each has a point of view and they rarely address each other directly. They are young to begin with, then middle aged, then old, then one dies. The anecdotes they relate are both humorous and tragic. Their lives seem wasted, yet the wife s muted final gesture of affection conveys a love endured through years of bickering. In Shakespeare s a Dick When the young red-neck Wally curses the name of Shakespeare and opts to attend a Monster Truck Show instead of As You Like It, he feels the wrath of the Bard. Waking up after a heavy night of boozing, he finds he can only speak in Shakespearian verse. His best friend Ramie searches for a cure from their high school English teacher Ingrid, while his girlfriend Doris swoons for the new Wally. Moll, the new housekeeper brings great promise for the parish priest, Canon Pratt and his two curates.
