2 Happy new year everyone, President s Notes I hope as you read this you will all have had your fill of mince pies, and cheesy footballs (just because they're my favourite Christmas nibble.) Wow what a December, and what a Pantomime, it had everything a panto should have... wet paint on some of the scenery a few hours before it opened, teething troubles that resulted in it going on without a complete runthrough,and a first night where the custard pie mix wasn't ready in time,(what superb ad-libbing by Kevin and Janet,, well done), but,that aside I can honestly say the cast were so lovely to work with it made stage managing so much easier. So thank you every single one of you, and as stage manager, apologies to those who suffered on the final performance, but believe me I let you off lightly this year :-) Sadly the only casualty in the panto was the backcloth depicting new York (weren't the backcloths and costumes brilliant this year) which has given way to old age and developed a tear, after being rolled and unrolled for at least years, so we will be buying a new one. No Panto can go by without the thanks not only to the cast, but the rest of the members who all helped put on a show that was enjoyed by so many. The crowning moment for me was when a cast member said it felt like being in one big family, now that is inspiring, and for me means we're putting the spirit back into the society. Then this week in committee, when social events were discussed it was so lovely to hear that we've got an event for each month from February through to May, WOW!, so please keep an eye on the calendar and join us when ever you can. 2

3 We now have volunteers so are looking to start a regular youth section again, so please if you know youngsters who may be interested keep an eye on Stage Whisper. As I write this, I am also aware that there are numerous conversations with possible directors for plays, so all in all we start the year with a positive feeling. The new carpet was laid in time for the show and didn't the foyer look brighter. 4 Julia, Joan, Sue and Bridget would like to thank everyone who contributed, manned stalls and supported us on such a stormy day. 8 Treasurer s Report The main thing over the last few weeks has been the panto, and what a panto it was! Well done to everyone involved, both on and off stage. With some house full performances, the box office receipts topped 5,000, a first for a panto. This is a sure thing to get a treasurer s heart beating faster. The good attendances have also meant increased ice cream and bar sales. There are still some bills etc to come in but the panto is on course to make a very good surplus. Expenses have been relatively low with purchases of stock, electricity payments, NODA subscription. We also paid 280 for the removal of the shrubs at the side of the theatre which definitely makes the area more spacious.
