I know times are tough and I hate to see you waste postage each year to solicit my membership." Mr. Barabash has been removed from the mailing list. Evidently Bob O'Kon contacted him and received mailing address and particulars about his time aboard the Knox. I can only guess that he sent initial Dues and information that we have sent renewal requests each year although he has never attended a reunion. As you know we do not send Newsletters to delinquent members nor do they receive the invitation to attend a reunion, only paid up members qualify to receive mailings. We try very hard to save the organization undue expense, so at most we only spent $.44 once a year sending a "flyer". While on the subject of invitation to attend a reunion the best way to make it known as to where the reunion will be held is to sign up to attend the reunion and cast your vote to where you would like to go for the next reunion. He's still living at Vacaville, CA Also heard from DON LANDERS QM2 ( ) the Navy is building a ship to be name USS FORT WORTH (his home town). The ship will be a 389 -foot litteral combat ship. The third of its class, a post 9-11 concept designed for flexibility, speed and shallower coastal waters. It is being built in Marinette, WI and will travel Lake Michigan to the St. Lawrence Seaway to the Atlantic making it's way to Galveston, TX for commissioning September 22. Don says he plans to head to Galveston for the commissioning meaning he will miss the reunion. JAMES HEALY, JR RD3 ( ) sent word he is going to Hawaii to meet his grandson, serving on the USS JOHN C. A plaque is a penn anent archival remembrance of service - a story that can be told to many future generations. Every plaque not only lives at the Navy memorial but it is also online for the world to see through the website. wvjw.navymeino;-iai.erg. These personal stories benefit everyone and also assist with the overall mission to promote the history and traditions of the United States Navy and the other Sea Services. The Dedication Ceremony of one plaque often leads to another related plaque. This is what happened in the case of the Plaque Dedication of the USS Randolph. Kayelynne Northcutt the widow of LCDR Tom Northcutt attended the the USS Randolph CV ICV lvcvs-15 Plaque Dedication in honor of her recently deceased husband and decided that a plaque adjacent to the Randolph Plaque in Tom's honor would be a wonderful tribute to his memory as a highly decorated Ww l I naval aviator. So the dramatically upgraded new Commemorative Plaque Wall proudly displays both a Commemorative Plaque for the USS Randolph and LCDR Thomas j. Northcutt.
