Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at the back door behind Evangel Community Church on 76 Sandy Street in Chatham. Guests are always welcome. At each meeting members may enter their finds of the month in the Finds of the Month Competition. The programs consist of talks by club members or invited speakers, slide or video shows, artifacts displays or demonstrations of new products. The club maintains a small library of books, magazines and maps, which may be checked out for one month. Our club strives to improve the public image of detector users and other amateur historical collectors. We therefore abide by the Code of Ethics. 2 Minutes Of Chatham Kent Metal Detecting Club Meeting Minutes Date: May 31, 2012 Call to Order: President Julie called the meeting to order at 7:10PM Members present: 23 Guests present: 4 Treasurer's Report: N/A Minutes from last meeting: Con motioned to accept the minutes and was seconded by Fred C. Accepted as read. Old Business: Andy said the CANAM hunt was very successful. There were over 90 people who attended and there was lots of prizes. Possibly the Chatham Club to sponsor as the status of the Windsor Club is in the air. It was determined that the Chatham Club will sponsor the CANAM hunt in It runs the last Saturday in April. Rick talked about the Stoney Creek hunt. Our treasure chest made $ this year! Way to go team! Anita was a big help selling the tickets and was awarded some copper rounds for her trouble. It was decided that there would be a box or other container at all our future meetings so that donations could be made for our next year's treasure chest which will have to be at least as good as this year. It was recommended that the tickets sell for 6/$20 or $5 for one. There were lots of prizes, lots of silver but no major prizes were won by C-K members this year. However it was a lot of fun! Rick won the Coin category Find-Of-The-Year at Stoney Creek for his gold coin. Congratulations to Rick! New Business: Ray and Simon who are members of the International Meteorite Collectors Association gave a talk on types of meteorites and explained a bit about the ones that they have found. They had many samples to show and discuss, and everyone received a free meteorite sample. Page 2

3 Minutes Continued Julie is not moving away and will remain our President. Yay! There was some discussion about our club hunt for this year. See Julies note at the end of the minutes, however, we now have a major sponsor lined up for our fall hunt. Minelab will be supplying us with up to $2000 in prizes including a detector. It was motioned by Rick and seconded by Andy that we budget $250 for food. Rick made a motion and seconded by Phil that we budget a minimum of $700 for prizes. Both of these motions passed. Julie mentioned the sad news of the passing of one of CKMD club's founding members - Don Wallace. The funeral was scheduled for Saturday June 2, There was discussion on the barrels, no one would take them so Rick suggested that we just sell them off and bank whatever cash we get for them. Our Fall hunt is still scheduled for Sept in Grand Bend. Cost is $41.00 per person. Please get the money in to Julie as soon as possible. She is putting in the down payment. The draw for the Sand Scoop, ProPointer was done. Rick won the sand scoop ticket# , Al S won the Garret ProPointer, ticket# Congratulations to both! 5 Special Interest Julie and Rick had a great chat with Jack Summers. Jack asked if we had a sponsor for our year end hunt. No, we told him, it's hard to find people to donate prizes. He then told us Minelab would sponsor us. He or someone from Minelab would come down for the day and do some demos if we wanted them too. They would also bring down enough T-shirts and caps and even donate a detector to be won. He mentioned something about 2000 dollars worth of stuff. So, all was not lost, we were sad that there had not been a beach hunt, but came home with a sponsor Whoo Hoo!
