6 ABOUT THE CAST FRED RICO (Richard Warwick). An actor for 21 years, his first performance was with a speech department children's show with Robert Q. Lewis. He has been a longtime member of Gilbert & Sullivan and Musket. He was last seen as Detective Sgt. Tarrant in Civic's Sleuth. DEBORAH KAY MUELLER (Laura Warwick). A newcomer to Civic but not to the theatre. Deborah worked with the EMU players from Her many stage appearances include Alma in Summer and Smoke, Millie in Hot L Baltimore and Flora in 27 Wagons of Cotton. She also appeared in Purdue's 1978 Summer Theatre as Fiosine in The Miser, Pam in A Day in the Death of joe Egg, and Kathy in Vanities. Deborah works as a secretary at the U of Min the Department of Philosophy. DESMOND P. RYAN (Michael Starkwedder). An Irishman by birth, Desmond has appeared with the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. He has also appeared with the University Players, as well as Civic and the Cocktail Theatre in Ann Arbor. He is employed at Huron High School in the Speech and English Departments. MARGIE COHEN (Miss Bennett). As one of Civic's most industrious workers, Margie has performed all manner of jobs behind the curtain for five years. Her efforts earned her a special Merit Award in She first appeared on stage this summer in the Studio Production of just Imagine, followed by her Mendelssohn debut this year as Rosa in You Never Can Tell. PHILLIP POTTER (jan Warwick). A Senior at Pioneer High School, this talented young man has appeared in many productions. These have included Finishing Touches, Pullman Car Hiawatha, You Can't Take It With You, Diary of Ann Frank and Peter Pan. He is a member of. the Pioneer Theatre Guild, History Club and A Capella Choir. He enjoys collecting coins, statues and miniature cannons. I. 7 More About the Cast CAROL KATZ (Mrs. Warwick). A newcomer to Civic, she has been involved with the Bonstelle Theatre at Wayne State University and the Wayne-Westland Civic Players. She has appeared in The Importance of Being Ernest, The Madwoman of Chail/ot, The Dark at the Top of the Stairs and The American Dream. She is emp loyed at the University of Michigan Hospital. PERRY MALLETTE (Henry Ange ll ). New to Civic, but not to acting, Perry has appeared with the Wayne State Theatre and the University of Detroit. He was featured in The Lark, Three Penny Opera, As You Like It, and The Horses. He is finishing his masters degree in direction at Wayne State University. BOBB JAMES (Sargeant Cadwallader). Bobb has appeared with Civic in Ernest In Love and The Fantastics. He has also starred in Caesar and Cleopatra, Fiddler on the Roof, and I Do, I Do among others. Bobb is an executive vice-presid ent of a film and production company. He is on the Board of Directors of the Ypsilanti Players and for a hobby enjoys collecting "tacky art." PETER GREENQUIST (In spector Thomas). His is the rich, mellow voice that greets many of us each morning on WUOM. He has been with Civic for four years. He has appeared in Promises, Promises, and You Never Can Tell. He has also lent a hand working on stage crews and has been a va lu able member of our playreading committee the last two years. ROBERT J. STARRING (Julian Farrar). In his five years with Civic, Bob has performed in The Visit, Brass and Grass, and Antigone. As a theatre major at Wayne State University he was a member of a cu ltural exchange visit to India in He has appeared in the U of M television series in Greek drama; as we ll as, Shakespearean plays for other organizations. 8 ABOUT THE STAFF DARLENE HARTFORD (Artistic Director). In her five years with Civic, Darlene has virtually mastered nearly every technical area of the theatre. She was Stage Manager for Little Mary Sunshine, Arsenic and Old Lace, and The Waltz of the Toreadors. She was co-producer of Sleuth. She has also directed three Studio Productions, including The Potboiler, Under Milkwood, and Dark of the Moon. Darlene is an electronics technician who is interested in science fiction. She is currently studying psychology at Washtenaw Community College. DON STEWART (Set Designer). A long and devoted member of Civic, Don has designed one show per year for Civic. He won "Best Set Award" for Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians. He is a salesman in build in g suppl ies. DIANNE LLOYD (Costume Designer). Dianne joil1ed Civic one year ago in an acting workshop. She previously worked on costumes fo r You Can't Take It With You, and 40 Carats. A Realtor-Associate by day, she is a self-made fashion plate - designing and making many of her own stunning outfits. JIM KAISER (Lighting Designer). jim is a teacher of electronics. He is also the Technical Director for the Livonia Ballet Company and the Plymouth Ballet. ) im was the lighting designer for the touring group of VERONIQUE L1 EM (Assistant Director). This charming young french woman is a newcomer to Civic. She appeared this summer (y<>u guessed it) as a french maid in just Imagine. She also worked on props for Sleuth. 9 More About The Staff ROGER WERTENBERGER (Consulting Director). Multi-talented, Roger's theatre experiences and awards could fill an entire program. His most recent award with Civic was being named "Best Director" for Sleuth, as well as "Best Set Design." He will again lend his talents to Civic by directing this May's production of The Madwoman of Chaillot. LORA J. Bl DDLE (Properties). A member of Civic for two years, she has worked on props, set-building and ushering. A talented local public school teacher - her hobbies include dance and cooking. PATSY ANNE Gl RNYS (Stage Manager). Returning to Civic after 3 years, Patsy appeared in our production of Under Milk wood. She has been a part of many " U" productions, including Hamlet, Red Ry der and Cyrano de Bergerac. She appeared as Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof for the Monroe Community Players. Patsy is a Senior Library Assistant at the U of M Graduate Library. BARBARA HESTON (Producer). Barb joined Civic three years ago as a chorus member in Promises, Promises. She also appeared in this summer's production of just Imagine. She was assistant director for Crawling Arnold and Brigadoon, as well as having produced last seasons The Waltz of the Toreadors. She is a new member of Civic's Board of Directors, in charge of publicity. A Realtor-Associate by profession, her hobbies include tennis, skiing and dancing. TED FARAH (Set Builder). Ted has spent seventeen years with Civic working on sets and building renovation. His talents include building special props, furniture and trophies for our annual Awards Banquet. Always willing to help when needed, he has faithfully collected tickets every Wednesday and Saturday evenings for our shows for fifteen years in a row. DAVE CURTIS (Make-Up). Dave starred as Fiorello in Civic's production Fiorello.
