2 International Artist Diploma Recital Series 2014 The RNCM s International Artist Diploma course is designed for musicians on the cusp of international careers. Each year, a select group of artists are chosen to study at this very highest level, specialising in solo performance, opera and vocal performance, chamber music, conducting or string leadership. This Spring we present a series of recitals given by the four students on this year s International Artist Diploma in Solo erformance course alongside a recital by a quartet on the Chamber Music course. The programmes feature some of the best-loved works in the repertoire and a promise of some wonderful music-making by several names to look out for in future years. They were one of four quartets selected internationally to participate in the Trondheim International String Quartet Academy 2012 and attended the Britten ears Young Artist rogramme in September Recent performances include recitals at St Martin-inthe-Fields and St John s Smith Square. They have also played at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and are regulars at the RNCM Chamber Music Festival. Yasmin is the winner of many competitions including the ETA UK and Moray International iano Competitions. She also performs regularly at venues such as St-Martin-inthe-Fields, Wigmore Hall and The Bridgewater Hall. Yasmin is The Oglesby Charitable Trust Scholar.

Alejandra was born in Caracas and from an early age was involved in El Sistema, going on to attend the Simón Bolívar Conservatory. In 2008, she was part of the bassoon section for the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra European Tour conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. After meeting Stefano Canuti at a woodwind festival in Caracas, Alejandra decided to move to Spain to study with him, winning a scholarship to the Aragón Superior Conservatory in Zaragoza. She also regularly plays First Bassoon with the Goya Symphony Orchestra. Gaspar Cassadó Suite for solo cello Benjamin Britten Sonata in C major Op 65 Alexander Glazunov Chant du ménestrel (Minstrel s Song) Op 71 Alexander Glazunov Sérénade Espagnole Op 20 No 2 Sergei Rachmaninov Sonata in G minor Op 19 Elena Nemtsova piano Our third IAD solo recital features St etersburg born cellist Mikhail Nemtsov. RNCM Gold Medal winner Mikhail has enjoyed great success in several international competitions and has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the London hilharmonia and European Union Chamber Orchestra. Mikhail is The Haworth Trust Scholar.

Back in 2006, Helen was woodwind finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition and since then, she has gone on to win many more awards and competitions. This year, she has been shortlisted for the ark Lane Group Concert Series and continues to perform as a soloist, orchestral player and chamber musician with the Tempest Flute Trio.

During the refurbishment of the Concert Hall, opening times will vary, so it is advisable to double check our website for opening times on a particular day. During term time Monday to Friday, the Café is open from 8am until 6.30pm and Brodsky is open from 11am until 3pm for food and 6pm for drinks. On performance nights, Brodsky is open between 5pm and 7.30pm for dining. HOW TO FIND US The RNCM is situated 1 mile south of Manchester city centre, in the heart of the Education Quarter, on the corner of Oxford Road and Booth Street West. Oxford Road connects the RNCM by bus to the city centre, and all of Oxford Road, iccadilly and Victoria train stations. Oxford Road Station is an easy 8 minute walk away. Why not take advantage of the RNCM s secure underground car park for just 3? It s located next to the college in the basement of Sir Charles Groves Hall off Rosamund Street (open from 5pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday/Sunday) or one of the other car parks and on the map below.
