QUICK OVERVIEW OF TANGLEWOOD 75 STREAM PROJECT The repertoire for the 75 streams has been chosen from a vast array of programs and artists and will feature many of the greatest conductors, composers, and performers of the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as Fellows of the Tanglewood Music Center, many of whom went on to have major careers and perform in the world s most prestigious concert halls and opera houses. The Boston Symphony Orchestra is grateful to the dozens of conductors, instrumentalists, and singers, who have generously allowed their performances to be included in this project. The 75 Tanglewood Streams have been organized by week, with each week offering a snapshot of Tanglewood performances over several decades, in works grand and simple, and in recorded sound of widely contrasting quality, providing listeners with a broad historical perspective no matter when they visit tanglewood.org to listen to a stream. In an effort to best reflect the wide range of musical genres that have played an important part in Tanglewood s rich history, each week will showcase one

2 performance from each of the following categories: operas and large-scale works; works led by BSO music directors and major guest conductors; great soloist appearances; composers as interpreters (both of their own and others works); Tanglewood Music Center performances; recitals; and popular music genres, including Boston Pops concerts, popular artists, and jazz. Starting with the first stream on June 20, visitors to the site will not only get to listen to some of the great performances from Tanglewood s 75 years of audio archives, but they will also have access to photos, program notes on works and performers written by the distinguished former Boston Globe critic Richard Dyer, and other information designed to offer listeners a historical context for the conductors, performers, composers, and music chosen to be featured in this special project. An essay by Anthony Fogg, the BSO s artistic administrator, about the sources, organization, and selection process behind the Tanglewood 75 Free Stream project can be viewed here. For crossreferencing purposes, appearing in links below are three different ways of viewing the music included in the 75 streams: a full concert listing with complete performance details for all the streams; a listing of artists featured in the streams; and a listing of composers and their works that have been included.
