Scene Productions take Marlowe s classic story of damnation and present it as a deliciously dark and terrifically twisted fairytale. Using stunning puppetry, live illusion and trickery, avenging angels and dastardly demons are brought to life as three performers conjure a fantastical world of magic, mischief and the macabre. In demand as concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral leader, he has also performed at Ronnie Scott s with his jazz group and recorded for Decca on a 6 string electric violin! Alongside two of the most popular sonatas in the romantic repertory stands Bach s mighty Chaconne and some rarely heard arrangements of Chopin s lyrical Nocturnes. 3 Saturday 6 October 7.30pm The Seagull Effect Presented by Idle Motion 15 (Concessions 10) It is 1987 and Britain is about to be hit by the worst storm in living memory. As one couple s relationship falls apart, this powerful drama deftly interweaves the chaos of their lives with that of the terrifying hurricane raging outside. Using exciting and evocative staging and a stunning visual kaleidoscope of images and stories, the havoc wreaked by nature and its impact on the individuals whose path it crosses is brilliantly revealed. A suspected terrorist has been arrested, hastily tried with a law invented specifically for her and condemned to death by a jury, but not of her peers. That would be impossible: her only peer is Queen Elizabeth I. This presents Elizabeth with a terrifying dilemma: either to reign in fear for the rest of her life or to have Mary Stuart executed. 4 Thursday 25, Friday 26 and Saturday 27 October 7.30pm Burbage Theatre Company Table Manners Alan Ayckbourn 6 (Concessions 4) A date for the diary Norman s at it again, wreaking hilarious havoc in this Burbage Theatre Company presentation of Table Manners, part of Alan Ayckbourn s The Norman Conquests trilogy. Norman carries on where he left off when Burbage last year performed to great acclaim another in the trilogy, Round and Round the Garden trying in vain to keep all of the women in his family happy throughout one chaotic weekend in the country. Wednesday 21, Thursday 22, Friday 23 and Saturday 24 November 7.00pm Alleyn s School presents Les Misérables School Edition TM Performed entirely by students 9 (Concessions 6) A musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg School Edition specially adapted and licensed by Josef Weinberger Limited on behalf of Music Theatre International and Cameron Mackintosh (Overseas) Limited The epic story recounts the struggle against adversity of right and wrong; of life and death; of individual and society; of selflessness and selfishness; of rich and poor; of love and greed; of hope and reality. The powerful musical score is full of wonderful songs, at times uplifting and determined, at others sad and poignant; occasionally with a bit of humour thrown in for good measure. This is, indeed, the music of a people who are climbing to the light even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise. A show not to be missed.

Mum, Ruth, trying to keep a handle on troublesome teenagers Fred and Ellie with Laura at Uni, Granny from the Welsh valleys who may not be as dotty as she sounds and good old Dad who does his best to keep up. In a double bill of two one-hour, one-woman plays Edinburgh Fringe sellout (2008 and 2010) writer and performer Ginny Davis with dazzling versatility shows the funny side of modern family life with teenagers. It usually is funny when it s someone else s life, isn t it? Saturday 8 December 7.00pm 4 Hands, 2 Pianos A charity piano concert in aid of Leukaemia Research 10 (Concessions 7) Evelina Puzaite, fresh from her solo début at Carnegie Hall, and Grace Mo will play various solo/4 hand piano pieces including extracts from Tchaikovsky s Nutcracker suite and works by Milhaud, Rachmaninov, Puzaite, Liszt and Lutosławski. Internationally renowned, both performers are in constant demand both as soloists and as chamber musicians. Saturday 15 December 7.30pm Dominic Holland 15 (Concessions 12) Dominic Holland is one of Britain s top awardwinning observational comedians. He first made his name by winning the prestigious Perrier award and subsequently appeared on many top-rated television shows including Have I Got News for You and The Royal Variety Show. He wrote and starred in the critically-acclaimed The Small World of Dominic Holland for BBC Radio 4.
