Fortune hosts the best shows in Vancouver, presenting cutting edge talent in all genres, backed by the best staff in the city. Fortune redefines the definition of a club, presenting a variety of events, from art openings and film premiers, to fashion shows and after-parties, to live events in all genres. Now situated within a hot bed of new trendy restaurants and retail spots, Fortune was the first in the once desolate area of Vancouver s Chinatown. What was once the infamous Ming s Chinese Restaurant is now a revamped space focusing on innovative design, pieces from local and international artists such as the entrance to the club which was designed by Shepard Fairey, and eco-friendly venue features, all brought to life by the one and only Funktion One sound system. In less than four years, Fortune has established itself as a leader in the music scene in Vancouver. Welcoming acts and performers from all genres, the organizers and staff of Fortune have created an entity that is equal parts nightclub, venue, project space, art gallery and community hub.

4 SOUND + DESIGN THE FUNKTION-ONE SOUND SYSTEM The world-renowned Funktion-One Sound system stands magnificently among the venue s exposed beams and gilded brick walls. Fortune Sound Club has been designed around the sound system with minimal hard surfaces in order to maximize the technology. The choice of Funktion-One speaks to Fortune Sound Club s very essence to respect the sense of sound and how it is integral to the Fortune experience at an organic level. This exceptionally high calibre of sound quality creates a new paradigm for nightlife by providing an incredible platform to connect with the crowd. ECO-CONSCIOUS DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION The intimate and innovative space by Orangutang Design is equal parts quality, function, conscientiousness, and aesthetic appeal. Eco-friendly design specs include recycled gluellam beam bar tops, table tops, and shelving; locally-manufactured LED lighting, a new HVAC system, T5 fluorescent lighting, low VOC paints, TOTO low-flow toilets and urinals, as well as a locally-designed and built stainless steel custom bar. Artistic collaborators include street artist Shepard Fairey and streetwear designers Rick Klotz of freshjive and Kenta Goto of brknhome. Shepard Fairey s massive install greets you at the front door and follows you up into the main space, while two custom Designed By artist series rooms from Rick Klotz (for Timebomb) and Kenta Goto (for Livestock) will be open for you to just chill in and/or available for private parties upon request. To complement the Funktion-One Soundsystem, Fortune Sound Club offers a custom DJ booth, which can cater to a four-turntable battle or any house aficionado. In the main space, a 16-foot-by-16-foot stage opens up to a reclaimed, red oak dance floor with plenty of bounce for the knees.
