12 Daniel passed away March 8, Farewell Daniel When we think of him, we see the smiling face, with the cigarillos in the mouth, of a big man who calls you saying Hello my friend! Daniel lived in the area of rue Helène: a small village like a borough of Paris, close to Place de Clichy. He was born there and he was instructed there in the catholic college Saint Michel. He knew there many people: the small shopkeepers, his neighbours. He spent some time during his retirement to take care of them and the co-owners of the apartment he lived in. He liked to travel the world; for business and for his own interest, he liked especially to travel the USA where his size was found usual. He was proud to have introduced for ALCATEL the XLPE cable systems here. But the major part of his career was with lapped cables. I always remember when he was inspecting the cross channel cable, bare foot over the coiled 50km core length in the impregnation tank.

13 His colleagues were a second family to him. He knew the name of their husband and wife, the Established children, 1947 and Spring 2011 Meeting, St. Pete Beach, the birthday FL dates were kept in a small booklet he always carried with him. We will remind him as a professors, where he said that the "the care of the details make the difference between what works and what does not work". Let's be reminded of some works: 2002: 420 kv XLPE Insulation Cable Qualification for application in Germany ICC with D. 38 Other Guidelines for IEEE WG Meetings All IEEE-SA standards meetings shall be conducted in compliance with all applicable laws, including antitrust and competition laws. Relative costs, including licensing costs of essential patent claims, of different technical approaches may be discussed in standards development meetings. Technical considerations remain primary focus Don t discuss or engage in the fixing of product prices, allocation of customers, or division of sales markets. Don t discuss the status or substance of ongoing or threatened litigation. Yingli Wen was one of four Con Edison researchers honored with Technology Transfer Awards from the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), who developed a device that protects utility workers from arcing faults in manholes. John Densley was honored by Dielectrics & Electrical Insulation Society for Services Rendered as Editor-in- Chief of Electrical Insulation Magazine. 62

61 IEEE Fellow Class of 2013 The Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) highest grade of Fellow recognizes excellence for notable achievements in power engineering and industrial applications.
