2 Welcome from the Organising Committee Increasingly complex issues, interdependent diagnostics and the forging of interactions among diverse fields in a new, specific yet in-depth manner point to the need for educational efforts directed towards a common objective, namely that of giving a congress that has always sought to examine the whys of events more educational and innovative content and international appeal. Towards this end, New Trends and Refr@ctive.on-line have decided to merge paths and continue their journeys together. Our union with ESASO thus stemmed from our appreciation of its post-graduate programme as a new and innovative teaching model for the future. In recent years, a new generation of ophthalmologists has expressed the need for a more organic and systematic way of learning, one that offers them the opportunity to enter and compete in the job market more easily and effectively. With this purpose in mind, we launched a new proposal that applies schematic and cutting-edge teaching methods that we hope will satisfy the legitimate expectations of its users. With the pivotal support of such prestigious institutes as IMO and Humanitas, the project will have the backing it needs to play a key role in promoting knowledge and new research in the field of ophthalmology.
