1 Flowchart of the Tomcat Program (Version 4.0) needed to use the Rectangular or Ratio Volume Cups for setup. This document outlines the changes to the SET and MF routines of the TOMCAT. All other functions remain unchanged from today s 3.2 version. July 23, 2010 Version 7 Start Up of Tomcat When Tom Cat is initializing, IMI will be displayed. The second display is Tomcat s software version X.X, Tomcat Button Legend ENTER UP & DOWN END + - Setting of OZ or ML Select OZ or ML. Press + or to toggle. (OZ is the Default setting) PRESS ENTER To set and advance to next function Charging of Valve CAP is displayed if the capacitor is being charged. Screen will automatically advance to next function when completely charged Available Menu Options If the Valve is new and has not been setup previously, then only SET and PUR will be available. Otherwise all 5 menu options are available. Home Menu (5 Options) See Pages 2, 3, 4 See Page 5 Page 1

2 Beginning Valve Setup VISUAL - When SET is displayed the valve is ready to be set up. Press ENTER to begin the programming. Note: Once in the valve programming mode you cannot back out. Disconnect Tom Cat to Exit. Selection of Product One of the following must be selected. SG / NSG / H2O Press + or to move through the menu. Press ENTER to select: SG Sugar or NSG No Sugar Screen will advance to next function Setting of Product Ratio RAT will flash for 2 seconds and then advance to the value screen. The current value for Ratio will be displayed. Press + or to increase or decrease ratio in 0.05 increments. Press ENTER to set ratio. Selection of Water for the Product If you select H20 the valve will dispense water only. Screen will advance to where you will be required to set the flow rate for water only dispense. Input flow rate and press enter. The screen will display OK? and then return to the SET display. Water Flow Rate Setting the Flow Rate for Valve FLO will flash for 2 seconds and then advance to the value screen. The current value for Flow Rate will be displayed. Press + or to increase or decrease ratio in 0.1 increments. Press ENTER to set ratio. Selecting the Ratio Cup Style CUP will flash for 2 seconds and then USA or RVC will be displayed. Press + or to toggle between USA or RVC. Press ENTER to set cup style and Ratio Adjustment method. Splitter Fill and Pre-pour learning. When the SPL is displayed, insert a splitter into the Valve Nozzle. Press ENTER to advance. The SPL display will begin to flash. Water and Syrup will begin to flow for about 1 second and then close again. If no ERRORS, the routine will continue. The SPL display will still be flashing and the motors will slowly open and then close again. If no ERRORS, the routine will continue. The SPL display will still be flashing and a 400mL drink will be poured. If no ERRORS, the screen will automatically advance to the Ratio Adjustment method determined by the Cup type. 3 Rectangular Ratio Cup (USA) SETUP Method To Bring Valve into Proper Ratio Adjust Syrup to match Water level When the USA is displayed, place ratio cup under splitter and nozzle. Press ENTER to advance. The USA display will begin to flash and 16oz of Water and the amount of Syrup according to the ratio set earlier will be dispensed into the Rectangular Ratio Cup. If no ERRORS, the routine will continue. Remove the Ratio Cup from under the splitter and nozzle and place it on a flat, level surface. Tap the ratio cup three times before reading the levels. Observe the Syrup level against the Water level in the cup. The Tomcat display will show 0.0. If the Syrup is above the Water, Press the + button. If the Syrup is below the Water, Press the button. Each press of the button is 0.5 or one half of a window. Match up the Tomcat display to show how the ratio cup looks. If the syrup is 2 windows above the water line. Press + four times until you are reading If the syrup is 2 windows below the water line. Press four times until you are reading 2.0. Error Display ERRORS can be displayed in 2 ways. One way would be thru the Tomcat display showing an ERx and the other way would be from the LED keypad on the Leopard valve. The type of Error display is dependent on the mode of the Tomcat, but is also visibly noticed by no Water or Syrup dispensing. Tomcat Displayed Errors are as follows; ER1 will be for insufficient Water ER2 will be for insufficient Syrup ER3 will be for insufficient Water and Syrup ER4 will be for improper Writing to the Valve ER5 will be for dispense time too long. Leopard Valve Errors would show up as a Sold-out light on the Valve Keypad. For all ERRORS, fix the Water and Syrup supplies and then rerun the desired Tomcat routines. ERRORS Display See above If MAX or MIN is displayed during the adjustment, then the maximum adjustment to the valve has been made. Check for improper System operation or Valve operation and then rerun the test. Once you have the desired number showing on the display, then press either ENTER or END by reading the following instructions; OR Press ENTER when you want to rerun the adjustment routine. The USA will be displayed. Place the ratio cup under the splitter and nozzle and press ENTER, this will repeat the syrup adjustment function. You can continue to rerun as many times as necessary. Press END when you have achieved the proper syrup level in the ratio cup and the screen is reading 0.0. Press the END button and this will save all the setting information to the valve. The valve is now completely set up. The screen will return to the Home menu SET function. After Setup is completed. Activate the valve to insure it is operating properly. 4 Ratio Volume Cup (RVC) SETUP Method To Bring Valve into Proper Ratio Adjust Water and Syrup volumes When the RVC is displayed, and the units will automatically display ML. Place ratio cup under splitter and nozzle. Press ENTER to advance. The RVC display will begin to flash and a 400mL drink will be dispensed into the Ratio Volume Cup. If no ERRORS, the routine will continue. Remove the Ratio Volume Cup from under the splitter and nozzle and place it on a flat, level surface. Tap the ratio cup three times before reading the levels. The calculated WATER target will be displayed on the screen. Observe the reading of the WATER at eye level. Compare the Volume (ml) in the cup with the value on the screen. Press + or Buttons until the value showing on the screen matches the volume (ml) in the Ratio Volume Cup. Each press of the button is 1mL of adjustment. Press ENTER when complete and to advance to the Syrup adjustment. Error Display ERRORS can be displayed in 2 ways. One way would be thru the Tomcat display showing an ERx and the other way would be from the LED keypad on the Leopard valve. OR If MAX or MIN is displayed during the adjustment, then the maximum adjustment to the valve has been made. Check for improper System operation or Valve operation and then rerun the test. Press ENTER to rerun the RVC adjustment section again. Repeat as many times as desired. Press the END button to finish and save all the setting information to the valve. The valve adjustment is now complete and the screen will return to the Home menu SET function. After Setup is completed. Activate the valve to insure it is operating properly. Page 4

5 Maximum Flowrate (MF) Use this process to measure the System and determine the valve s Maximum Drink Flow rate, Maximum Water Flow rate, and Maximum Syrup Flow rate When the SET is displayed in the Home Menu, Press + or Buttons until MF is displayed. Place a large cup under the valve nozzle and Press ENTER to advance and begin the MF flow routine. Press ENTER again. The MF display will begin to flash and both the Water and Syrup motors will open to the maximum open position while the flow rate of each is measured. The motors will remain open for about 4 seconds and then automatically close. The calculated Maximum Drink flow rate will be displayed on the screen in the units that have been selected earlier. The WATER and SYRUP icons will also be flashing. Press + or Buttons to change the display and to advance to the SYRUP Maximum flow rate. Press + or Buttons again to change the display and to advance to the WATER Maximum flow rate. Continue to toggle thru the 3 display values until all of the readings are noted. By observing these 3 values, you may understand if the Water System is performing correctly or if the Syrup system and supply is performing correctly. These values are helpful in troubleshooting problems with the System or valves that are experiencing SOLD-OUT s. Press END when complete and to return to the Home Menu and SET. Page 5
