Web Quests A ton of web quests that are very easy to sort List of several web quest sites More web quests Quests organized by subject Book Lists An interactive book list, this site allows you to put in difficulty/ topic and it spits out a ton of books that might apply. Very useful.

This Wisconsin site contains a lot of book reviews. This collection of links includes a large list organized by time period of mystery writer, several hyper-fiction mystery and clue decoding sites. Interesting idea for a final project having students create web mysteries (hyper- fictions). Stories written by students from around the world A huge archive of American folklore and myths Essays from different Peace Core members Collection of hyper fictions (branching, on-line, choose your own adventure stories) written for kids Collection of modern essays Huge list of books Book lists This site run by Young Adult Library Service is a great way to sort through huge lists of books. A ton of links dealing with reading theory is just the beginning of the resources available on this site. Scroll down and find more great links to book sites. Writing Formats This site reinvents the term paper, through a technique called I-search. Excellent. More about I-search This site has easy tutorials for the 6 Writing Traits.

Six Writing Traits check list This cute graphic explains the Hamburger Writing Model. Editing/ Writing Sites Some activities are a little young, but there is one very interesting section (Word Play) which gives students a set of words. Then the site has them build silly sentences, which they can edit. They, as a group, then slowly build a story. Very Cool. Great grammar source Gives tips on how to write different types articles Grammar games Grammar games Seems like an interesting site, which has you write journal entries to go with provided nature images, however, I couldn t get it to work. Places to Get Published Great place to try and get your students work published At this interactive site, students follow the prompts to produce their own books. Students can work with bulleted lists, headlines, and text; they can leave space to add pictures after printing. Everything prints out on one piece of paper. Follow the instructions to fold and cut. Very interesting site. It encourages students to write as is in a dairy then organizing the entries by themes. Could be some issues with topics presented, but could also be a very interesting way to think about themes in real people s lives.

Great place to try and get your students work published Another place to get published This is a big database of memories and stories Teenage-based online magazine This site gives students a place to submitted their work, but also has a large selection of students work that could be good for lessons that look at what good and bad writing is. This is a Random House site that publishes book reviews by kids. Publishes articles and fiction Publishing student work Interviewing Collection of oral history transcripts Collection of oral history transcripts This is a big database of memories and stories. Media and Advertising Excellent visuals looking at media propaganda Consumer reports for kids 50 years of Coca cola ads Poetry

Gives you magnetic words to create poems with online. Some of the kits on the site are not for young people, but the high school kit and some other ones are good for our age group. This magnetic poetry site is gear completely for kids. Has an interesting rhyming dictionary. General poetry site Collection of reading (with audio) and essays about poets and poems A place to publish poems Twisted Protagonist Interactive look at Oliver Twist s London Lots of information on Dickens Persuasion Links to debate rubrics, guidelines, resources, ect A list of Fallacies On-line Venn diagram Diagram which depicts the dialectic process

Fantasy This site allows the viewer to face the difficulties of directing The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This page allows you to create your own historical looking story. Using medieval clip art, you can design your own parchments. Very cool. Mysteries Online hyper fiction (choose your own adventure) mysteries More on-line mysteries More on-line mysteries, but these are more geared towards kids This hyper-fiction, mystery uses art as its teaching objective. Edgar Allen Poe web quest This site gives both the history of mysteries and more mystery examples. Sherlock Holmes stories on the web Dictionary of common mystery slang Myths and Fairytales A very interactive site, it contains a bunch of world myths and legends. It also allows you to compare and contrast the different essays.

A huge resource of different myths A collection of creation myths List of fairy tales that are available on-line Full books and short fairytales on-line Fairytales from around the world Animated fairytales a little young, but still good Music This site uses music to teach all of the other subjects. Examples of music from around the world This site goes into music theory and contains several interactive lessons. Named the symphony for kids, this site also contained several lessons on music theory and interactive simulations. Odds and Ends Working with time, these condensed-time videos might make for an interesting freewrite. #3-D designed vocabulary site

The Guinness Book of World Records site is well built and could be used for comparison data in Math or for a character study in English On this sight you can listen to the flight conversations from several airports A virtual lightbright This is a list of role playing characters and might be good when looking at character development.
