3 Comments The candidate has sought out many relevant, but not interrelated foci, for example in his/her description of the media, images and use of colour in the two artworks. The candidate was able to develop only a single, linear and isolated recognition of visual forms, without connecting them to any experiences or feelings, for example, in his/her discussion of the use of colour in the two artworks. The candidate was able to provide multiple interpretations of meaning with forms of presentation, for example in Plate (4a), he/she states the horses create a feeling of excitement while those in Plate (4b) create a feeling of sadness. The candidate was able to propose one or two criteria, but without being able to judge the appropriateness of the presentation, for example with regard to the images and use of colour in the two artworks.
4 Part B
5 Artwork Statement: Comments The candidate shows mastery of materials and skills in appropriately and effectively highlighting the key message of the theme, for example in his/her use of a flat and glazed wash of colours. The candidate shows mastery of the visual elements and principles of design in appropriately giving the key message of the theme, for example, in his/her discussion of the use of colour and the composition of the work. The candidate shows an ability to consider particular forms or ideas in his/her appreciation and criticism of the artwork by reflecting on how to present the theme, for example by the use of horses. The candidate is able to demonstrate personality characteristics in an original way and by means of transference or association for example, in the use of the merry-go-round. The candidate is able to use relevant and coordinate forms of artistic creation in expressing different emotions or ideas.
