1 Annual Report rd Avenue Radford, VA
2 Reflections from the Chamber... We have had an incredibly full year in 2018! We achieved many of the goals we set out to accomplish. With each challenge, our goal was to make our members appreciate doing business in the City of Radford. With each new member, we cheered on their growth in our community. For our continuing events, we wanted each member to feel a new energy, as though it was the first time they had attended. Whether it was helping our city with the local election forum, or creating a first time event like the Food Truck Rodeo or Casino Night, the mission was always on how best to grow business for those that call Radford home. Our focus has always been on our members, and I believe the Chamber has continued to listen to their wishes and created an energy that has promoted our unique community. Striving to accomplish growth for our local economy is not easy, but I am so proud the Radford Chamber of Commerce, along with its board members, have continued in 2018 to move forward on a commitment to make Radford better. As I step away from my directorship, I know Radford is ready to grow and that the members of our Chamber are energized to make it happen. ~ Lisa I joined the Radford Chamber of Commerce during a very busy time. The Chamber, Radford City, Thai This and Radford University were in the process of putting on the first ever Radford City Food Truck Rodeo; Rollin on the River. Being a part of a team that put this huge successful event together was so rewarding. Although I have faced many challenges during my f9 months at the Chamber I have also achieved the goals I have set for myself. My goals from the beginning was to keep the office organized and to be a point of contact for the community. This has allowed Lisa to have more face-to-face interaction with Chamber members and the community. I m very excited to see what the Chamber has in store for Arianna Lisa Spitzer Davis Executive Director Arianna Harris Executive Assistant 2

4 A Message From the President... Past. Present. Future. Upon reflecting on the past year and all that we accomplished, I am reminded that there are two constants in Radford. One, our local business leaders and community truly support each other. Second, there will always be distractions and changes we cannot control. How you work through these constants defines who you are. New opportunities often present themselves that were not there before. Working with our partners, both new and existing, provided synergies to exploit these opportunities. Dan McKinney Interim President Our staff planned and executed our signature events - the Annual Golf Tournament and the Winter Gala - which both were a huge success! If you missed the Winter Gala this year, you will not want to miss next year's Gala. The partnerships the Chamber entered into created new events, such as the Food Truck Rodeo and innovative educational seminars. The list is long, but other successes are the Farmers Market, Craft & Draft, West End Wednesdays, Business over Breakfast; not to mention the many Ribbon cuttings and many other networking opportunities. I am proud to be a part of this Chamber and our wonderful community, and so should you! I wish you a happy and prosperous 2019! Sincerely, Dan McKinney President 4

We hope to roll out a program in 2019 designed to give our up and coming young leaders in Radford a voice and a platform to develop their leadership and community development skills. We will leverage technology in 2019 as we seek to improve the exposure of the Radford Chamber and our members through a multitude of social media platforms and an update to our website to include member-only content. Radford is poised for success...i am excited to partner with Ciara and the Board of Directors to help grow our business environment and ensure that the surrounding areas fully know that Radford is open for business. -Onassis Onassis Burress Edward Jones Investments 2019 Chamber President Ciara Harris Executive Director
