Advisor: Miss Cress B OOK FAIR By: Helena and Alma There was a book fair in Sunset Elementary school. The date of the book fair was April 4 th to April 7 th. You could buy books at lunch time or after school. This year we had a great deal. The deal was buy one get one free! There were tons of good choices! For example, there was the Amulet series. There even was the newest one, Amulet 7. There were not just books; there were family games, journals for boys and girls, cool book marks, tape with pictures on it and some books that came with accessories. It was very fun. When we were there shopping for books we al- most saw everyone smiling, laughing and having a fantastic time! I think almost everyone had a good time this year at the book fair, I hope we have an even better one next year! I also hope you liked it as much as we did!

We were in groups, not just in class but with the whole third grade. It was so much fun! Here are some people that said how they felt and how much they loved it. Here is a third grader in Mrs. Piccirilli s class, Sole, and she was in the Raven clan and she said, I felt that it was fun but next time there should be a fair amount of girls and boys in each clan. And here a girl from Mrs. Martins class, Mackenzie, from the bear clan, and she said, It was ok but more activities would have been fun. A boy from Mrs. Piccirilli class, Keshawn, from the wolf clan, he said, It was fun. It looks like lot of people liked the potlatch. Soon the second graders will have it too. Have a fun potlatch next year second graders, and have a nice day.

People rarely pick completely right, but people sometimes pick the winner correctly and most of the rest is wrong. This year it was extremely hard with all of the upsets. For instance the #2 seed Michigan St. vs. #15 seed Middle Tennessee. Middle Tennessee won Also #12 seed Little Rock beat #5 seed Purdue This year s final 4 were: #2 seed Villanova, #2 seed Oklahoma, #1 seed North Carolina, and the underdog #10 seed Syracuse. Those are just a few of the many upsets. The results are in! Who do you think won? If you guessed Villanova you are correct! It was a close game with the score as Villanova won on a three point last second shot. Villanova is the champion for Most people from the start wouldn t have picked them to win the whole thing. Most picked Kansas, Kentucky or even Michigan St. to win.
5 E NDANGERED A NIMALS Article and comic by: Aria and Emily Endangered animals are a big part of our environment. Endangered animals are endangered because of poaching (illegal hunting), climate/environment change, pollution, global warming, etc. If we want to preserve our precious animals, we need to change the way we do things. Here are some ways we can help save the endangered animals! Change regular light bulbs to LED bulbs. When you see garbage on the floor, pick it up and bring it to the nearest trash can. Only buy food that is in season. Buy foods that are grown locally and organic. Page 5 Start a meatless Monday. Use solar and electric energy. Turn off lights when not needed and use natural sunlight. Only take 5 to 6 min showers and rarely have baths. Use a bike or bus or walk to get anywhere close to home. Use more recycling and compost than garbage. Help save the endangered animals. They can t do it without your help!!
6 Page 6 I NTERVIEWING THE HEAD OF THE PTA By: Dylan L. I had some questions for Mrs. Krienke, the head of our PTA. Here they are. Q: Who are your children here at Sunset? A: Ava, who is in fifth grade. Q: What s your favorite food? A: Popcorn. Q: What s your favorite sport? A: Football. Q: What s your favorite color? A: Purple. Q: How much money did we raise this year? A: So far $60,000. Q: What made you want to be the head of PTA? A: I was asked to do it and it is my 3 rd time being it. Q: Do you have another job if so what is it? A: I work at the LRC room at Sunset. Thanks for being the head of PTA Mrs. Krienke! T RAINING DOGS By: Ian Do you have a dog? If you do, you probably want to train it. After you train a dog it becomes very obedient. Dogs are able to learn tricks like shake and rollover but first you have to know how to train them. You need something like a treat or human food and then you need to say the command. When they do the right motion or sound then you give them the treat or food. Repeat this process until they can just do it on command. S PORTS SURVEY By: Gavin I asked 50 kids what their favorite sports were out of 5 sports. Here were the results: Basketball: 16 Baseball: 19 Soccer: 6 Gymnastics: 5 Football: 14 The most popular sport is baseball. I think that is because it is baseball season. I voted baseball because I like playing baseball. Some kids at school wear baseball jerseys. Basketball was the second most popular and football was the third. I think that is because it was just basketball season and before that it was football season. Also, some people like the Seattle Seahawks.
