1 Happenings Resolve to Hydrate Water is the building block of life essential for all of us in our daily routine. But, do we get enough water every day? Is it hard to tell when it's time to fill up your glass? Here are a few signs of dehydration, meaning you may need to drink a bit more: The color of your pee. You might think that paying more attention to thirst is the easiest way to tell if you need more water, but that's not the case. Bright, or dark yellow pee can indicate your kidneys may be working overtime. Clear urine generally indicates good hydration. Your mouth is dry. If your lips are cracking, and exposure to the winter weather isn't to blame, it may be that you are moderately dehydrated. You feel extra worn down. While daily life just seems to be taking it's toll on your body, if you find yourself lounging around more than any other activity, it may be a sign you need more water. Increasing fluids is one of the best ways to combat fatigue, but not just (cont'd on page 3) FREE.. To a Good Home! They've been working hard to remodel, while trying to meet the grocery needs for our unique little community. Is sleep something you only dream about or wish you could? 2 Turkey-Porcini Tetrazzini Ingredients: 1 package dried porcini mushrooms 2 1/2 c. large pieces of roast turkey 8 oz. wide egg noodles 3 tbsp. olive oil 3 tbsp. finely chopped A great way to use up leftover turkey! shallots 1 tsp. chopped thyme leaves 1 pinch cayenne pepper 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour 2 1/2 c. milk 1 tbsp. cognac 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese 1/2 c. bread crumbs Directions: Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do. Confucius Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Soak mushrooms according to package directions, reserving 1 1/2 cups liquid. Chop mushrooms, then toss with large pieces of roast turkey and wide egg noodles in a large bowl. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté shallots until softened, about 5 minutes. Add thyme leaves and cayenne pepper and cook until shallots become golden, about 2 more minutes. Stir in all-purpose flour and cook until browned, 1 to 2 minutes. Add milk, cognac, and reserved porcini liquid. Scrape bits from bottom of pan and season with salt. Heat just to boiling, then pour over noodle mixture; toss. Transfer to a baking dish, cover with lightly-buttered aluminum foil, and bake for 25 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix Parmesan cheese with bread crumbs. Remove foil from casserole and sprinkle with cheese mixture. Continue to bake until golden, about 10 minutes. Simply enjoy. Did You Know? Being forgetful is not only normal, it makes you smarter. The main function of memory is to improve decision-making, and forgetting irrelevant details helps you to be more intelligent and make informed decisions. Page 2 Happenings January 1, 2019
3 Resolve to Hydrate cont'd any beverage will do the trick. Since water activates the metabolism, which in turn produces a positive impact on energy levels, a glassful can bring you a sense of rejuvenation. Your skin is dull. A wellhydrated body will show through radiant and glowing skin. Without enough water you'll experience irritation, roughness, and flaking. If your skin is looking rougher than usual, reach for some water. You'll notice the extra sips will visibly begin to show through the beauty of your skin. Your muscles are cramping. Though most people decide aching in the legs, or the cramping in your shoulder is due to poor posture habits or last week's gym session, few know that the true cause of muscle cramps is often water and electrolyte depletion. To assist with this issue, ensure you get water every morning and night by keeping a glassful at your bedside. When you drink more water, your body will thank you by producing more comfort and ease in your life. I'll drink to that! Did You Know? When your eyes move, your eardrums do, too. Nobody knows exactly why, but it does indicate that the information we take in through sight and sound has a much closer relationship than previously thought. If you want 2019 to be YOUR YEAR: Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won't have a title until much later. Don't sit on the couch and wait for it.. Go out. Make a change. Smile more. Be excited. Do new things. Throw away things that clutter your life. Unfollow negative people on social media. Go to bed early. Wake up early. Be fierce. Don't gossip. Show more gratitude. Do things that challenge you. Be brave.
