1 The U P B E A T Issue 36 September/ October 2010 Editor: Michelle Schack 3rd Annual City Hall Costume Contest 4th Annual City Hall COSTUME CONTEST We have gotten approval from the Mayor for our 4th Annual Costume Contest on October 29th! We have prizes for the top three costumes. Join us at City Hall at 12:00pm to celebrate Halloween and enjoy punch and cookies. We will have a panel of judges present to select the winners for the best costumes The winners will be announced at 12:30pm. Please use tact and judgment when choosing your costume. A special thank you to the prize donators and the panel of judges! Don t forget to visit Baldwin Avenue for Halloween Happening! For: Children ages 1-10 Where: Baldwin Ave. - streets will be blocked off When: Sat. Oct. 30th 5pm to 7:00pm What: Businesses in the area set up tables and give away candy and goodies to the children and they have a costume contest beginning at 5:00 next to Rhodes Jewelers Employees with children Please remember to be careful: *while carving pumpkins, *have children wear something reflective while trick-or-treating for visibility, and *double check that all candy received is sealed before letting them dig in. Pet of the Month Steven & Rachel Bradley s baby girl Raegan was born on August 2nd. She was born at 7 pounds and 1 ounce. So precious! This is Dog Dog Schack. He is a beautiful yellow lab. Weighing in at 135 lbs, the kids think he is a pony! He is very patient with the kids and is loved very much. About a year ago, he got lost and a Deputy Sheriff was kind enough to save him from traffic on 331. We are so very thankful that he is safe at home. Most people do not know you have to come in a 1AM to clean and lock buildings and do not get home until 2 AM most weekends. Your early and very late hours are appreciated by me, the City and the Public. Rodney Ryals Rodney, Jeffery, Nathan, and Michelle, Thanks for assisting with set-up for our Facility Planning Workshops and meetings at the Chautauqua Building! Kim Kirby Officer Tilman Mears, On Saturday, July 31 st a special cancer event was held at the fairgrounds. Officer Tilman Mears attended on the Police Departments behalf. On Monday, we received a phone call letting us know what a wonderful job he did at this event. From all of us to you, thank you once again for all of your efforts and dedication to community service! The DeFuniak Springs Police Miss Sandra, You have been very helpful to me through these years. I don t know what I would have done without you to call on for answers - solutions.
