1 NORTHGLENN ARTS BEGINNER Intro to Acting Ages 6-18 This is a great class for the want-to-be actor! We will introduce the world of acting through warm-up exercises, drama games, short skits and basic costume pieces. It is a great way to give acting a try. For the final class, we will show what we have learned in an informal presentation for family and friends. Ages Sep 11-Oct 30 5:30-7:00p $80/$88 Ages Sep 11-Oct 30 7:00-8:30p $80/$88 Ages Sep 11-Oct 30 5:30-7:00p $80/$88 BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE Dance for the Actor - Tap Ages 8-18 This class will focus specifically on tap for the stage. We will learn choreography typically used in musical theatre, and add in combinations appropriate for each actor s skill level. Tap shoes strongly encouraged. This class is recommended for actors and dancers with some prior dance experience. Sunday Sep 16-Oct 21 2:00-4:00p $60/$66 Musical Theatre Intensive Ages 8-18 In this beginner/intermediate level class, we will work on a big musical number focusing on all the details that make the magic happen. The course will feature work with the music director and the choreographer to fine tune each aspect. The course culminates in a large review show featuring the numbers from each age group. NYT Academy Classes & Workshops THEATRE CLASSES INTERMEDIATE Head to Toe Ages This in-depth class is all about developing a character from the inside out and from top to bottom. Focusing on body movement, vocalization, motivation and intentions - actors will create a memorable and believable character from a selected script or monologue. For actors with the desire to take their acting to a new level and beyond reciting lines. Suggested previous experience: at least two staged productions (NYT or equivalent), and/or 2 introductory acting classes. Wednesday Sep 12-Oct 24 6:30-8:30p $93/$103 Beyond the Basics Ages This intermediate level acting class is for the young actor ready to tune specific acting skills. The class will cover intentional physical movement/positioning, voice, delivery of a character and tips on memorization. Class work will focus on specific selections from scripts and/or monologues. The final class will be an informal presentation for friends and family. Previous acting classes (at least two sessions of intro or performance in an NYT (or equivalent) staged production) are required. Thursday Sep 13-Nov 1 4:30-6:00p $80/$88 INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED Just Off Center Comedy-Improv Troupe Ages This acting troupe is for the quick-witted and intelligent young actor who loves comedy and improvisational acting/games! Designed to help train young actors to engage their courage, creativity, control and characterizations through a variety of games and exercises. Previous acting and stage experience is strongly encouraged. Guaranteed to tickle your funny bone. This class is for you. Centering around Devising - a theatrical form of collaboration where each participant becomes playwright, director, performer, and researcher simultaneously! This class encourages and develops physical and artistic confidence, using techniques made famous by Frantic Assembly in the UK, and truly unlocks the keys to theatrical teamwork. 12 weeks. Activities are designed to provide opportunities to help prepare children for school, explore new materials, learn about artists and art technique and foster their creativity. This 3-part training breaks down the elements necessary for a musical theatre audition from start to finish. Specific and detailed instruction and tips for preparing the most appropriate and effective audition for each actor. The training will include professionals in each area: dance, music and acting - focusing on the very clear do s and don t s and equipping the young actor with a variety of tips and tools to adapt to many different curve-balls that can be at every audition. Films by Tom Sterling The Gift of the White Moose Moose are usually dark brown and near black in color and to see a white moose, in the wild, is a moment to cherish. In 1991 a white moose was spotted in Northgen Ontario, and I was asked to photograph her. The film chronicles the five years I spent trying to find and photograph the white moose, her progeny and many of her wild neighbors. Florida s Alien Wildlife An amazing number of alien or nonnative plants and animals can be found in Florida. The film will tour the Sunshine State and reveal Vervet Monkeys from South Africa, Rhesus Monkeys and Sambar Deer from India, the Burmese Python and Walking Claris Catfish from Thailand, parrots and macaws from the Amazon, the Nile Monitor Lizard from Africa, and Budgerigars from Australia. Travel along, and see and learn about these incredible invaders. JANUARY 16 How to Travel the World for Free Film by Michael Wigge This is the unbelievable attempt of awardwinning comedian, Michael Wigge, to travel 25,000 miles from Europe to Antarctica, without any money.
