2 Universal Edition resents Choral works by George rthur or unaccomanied mixed choir Since winning the 015 Three Choirs Choral Comosition Cometition with his Prayer o Thomas Ken, George rthur has created a selection o choral works which have won him great recognition. His musical style is gentle and relective, with long lowing vocal lines. Each voice art has its own melodic interest which when combined with the other voices creates a beautiul mosaic o sound. Overall the music shows a great sense o calm and serenity with careully judged climatic oints that brings out the comoser s amazing sense o word ainting. Within the music you can hear the inluences o Herbert Howells, ohn Tavener and rvo Pärt but at the same time there is an individual and distinct voice emerging with each new work. 8 George rthur Richord George rthur Richord is a multi award-winning comoser and conductor, living and working in the South o England. He is currently Director o Music at Romsey bbey and Southamton University Chamber Choir having held revious osts at Newcastle Cathedral, St ohn's College Durham, Newark and Dartord Parish Churches. His comositions have been erormed and broadcast around the world, and have received remiers on BBC 1, Radio &, and at the 00th nniversary o the Three Choirs' Festival in Hereord. He currently holds a major contract with Universal Edition and is recording a number o his works. George has directed choirs to wide critical acclaim, with a articular ocus on musicality and thorough interretation. He has recorded and broadcast widely and has earned a reutation or transorming choirs into high-achieving ensembles.
