We are desperately in need of assistance from all members in regards to helping out during performances. We have been lucky to have received help from a small group of dedicated members over the years (many thanks to you all, you know who you are!). However, there are many members that do not help out with performance duties such as Front of House, Bar Work and Box Office. And we really do need members to assist with the organising of Front of House rotas. So please, would you all consider helping out at the wonderful EAT by giving a little bit of your time during our performance weeks. THE EdWARd ALdERTON THEATRE Ui NiGHT EAT i Night is back The next EAT Quiz Night will be on sat rda th ne. The quiz starts at pm. 5 per ticket and a maximum of per team. A raf e will also be held. you are allowed to bring nibbles, but it is requested that all drinks are purchased from the bar. All monies will be put towards the upkeep of the theatre. Please contact Karen friett on: or karenfriett@aol.com Work weekend Due to the remounted production of A Slice of Saturday Night, this year our annual work weekend will be split across two days Saturday 27 July 2013 and Saturday 3 August One of the main tasks will be to clear out the props room, discard items we don t need, and photograph and replace items that we are keeping. Gillian Leggatt It is with great sadness that we report the death of former EAT member Gillian Leggatt. She appeared in our very first show, Oh What a Lovely War, in May 1976 and made several appearances until The Insect Play in December She leaves her husband, three daughters and grandchildren. BOGOF at the EAT! Buy One Get One Free (BOGOF) on tickets for Monday nights only. This will apply for the whole of this current season, running until Calendar Girls. This means that two Monday tickets, booked and paid for together, will cost 10 in total. This offer does not apply to members 8 tickets. The Hollow Set in 1953 Lady Angkatell arranges a week-end party, a few family members and charming Dr Cristow and rather dull wife, Gerda. What she doesn t expect is the disruption caused by the intrusion of the glamorous Hollywood starlet Veronica Craye or the subsequent murder. I have long been a fan of Agatha Christie and have really enjoyed directing The Hollow. For those of you who know the book may be surprised at the significant changes mainly the lack of a certain Hercules Poirot; this was primarily because when Dame Agatha adapted the novel into a play she felt that it would be impossible to find an actor to play the Belgium detective, I wonder what she would say about David Suchet? I have to thank everyone who have helped me with the production, my poor stage manager and husband who had to get used to every conversation, journey in the car and visit anywhere being about the play. Janet and Bob who are the most amazing props getters and backstage crew, so organised and calm, and of course the cast who have had to cope with what seemed a never ending series of changes and challenges that would have tested the other famous Hercules! I hope you enjoy tonight s production, but I warn you to watch out for a whole gamut of red herrings, well, it wouldn t be an Agatha Christie without those would it? Helen Banks Director

Calendar Girls (COMEDY), by Tim Firth Directed by Mark Campbell, July 2013 When Annie s husband John dies of leukaemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an alternative calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer, Lawrence. The news of the women s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame...
