1 WMS Reading Challenge Welcome to our reading challenge! Our challenge officially begins June 5 and ends on Wednesday, September 30. You will receive a grade for each category below. Good luck! White Orange Blue Pages Read Reads within the range of 500-1,000 pages Reads within the range of 1,001-1,500 pages Reads 2,000+ pages Reading Literature Grade Reading Responses 21st Century Communication Grade Responds to posted questions at least 3 times. Responds to posted questions at least 5 times Or Attend one book club meeting Responds to posted questions at least 7 times Or Attend two book club meetings Creative 21st Century Creativity Grade Student completes 1 of the projects listed below. Student completes 2 (total) of the projects listed below. May do the same project type. Student completes 3 (total) of the projects listed below. May do the same project type more than once. Citizenship 21st Century Communication Grade All projects and requirements submitted four or more days after the due date. All projects and requirements submitted one to three days after the due date. 2 Reading Challenge Project Options A book trailer is a video advertisement for a book which uses techniques similar to those of movie trailers to promote books and hook readers into wanting to read the book. You can use videos or pictures/images to create a trailer. Add music or narrate. Be sure to match the mood of the genre to the book. For example, if it is a mystery, the music should be haunting. If the book is funny, the music should be more whimsical. Should be seconds in length. Example: uses symbols and quotes from a novel to create a poster. Select symbols to place and draw on 8.X11 construction paper. Then select memorable quotes to weave around the symbols. Be sure to include the book title on your poster. Be neat and colorful! Mandatory: You must use the quote and symbol log attached to the menu. This must be turned in with your quote art project. Example: Select two books you read this summer to go head-to-head in battle! Create an 11x14 poster depicting the match-up between the two books. Poster should include a drawing or picture of the book covers, a brief student-written summary, and at least 5 categories to demonstrate comparison (ie Characters, Theme, etc).
