2 Legoland Malaysia Johor Bahru Senai airport. For all Lego fans who would LOVE to go to a Legoland, but can t make it out to Denmark or America or anywhere else with a Legoland, it s a dream come true! However, although the name is Legoland Malaysia, it is built right at the bottom of Malaysia, near a town called Johor Bahru. This means when you are driving, like we did, it is quicker from Singapore than Kuala Lumpur (1 hour compared to 4 hours). It is much easier, but more expensive, to take a plane to the A handy hotel to stay in is the Palm Resort hotel. There is a good pool, and if you arrived on a plane and don t have your car, it runs a shuttle service to Legoland. However, when driving to Legoland, use a GPS or Satnav if available and take care not to make mistakes! The way to Legoland is not well signposted until very near to the actual park. Also, the GPS coordinates given from the hotel website and the Legoland website are both different, and wrong. We took a wrong turn, which led us onto a congested toll that took an hour to get through! Once you are actually in Legoland, there are a few high speed rollercoasters to entertain older kids, not just slow ones for toddlers. The log flume at Legoland Windsor (that I have previously visited) is quite good, but the one at Johor was not operational when we visited so I have no idea what it is like. These include Project X (Technic themed), The Dragon (Castle themed) and the slightly less scary Dragon s Apprentice (Castle themed again). The Dragon s Apprentice is basically a smaller version of The Dragon. I enjoyed The Dragon more, mainly because of the Lego models included at the beginning. Project X is a rollercoaster involving sharp dips and turns. On Aquazone Wave Riders, you get in a boat attached to a central rotating ring, control your distance from the ring and try to avoid water bombs and jets activated by passers-by! The Driving School is another fun activity. First, you watch a short video about road safety, with a Lego minifigure boy and woman as hosts. Then, you get to go out onto the track and try out this safety. There are two problems with the cars you drive around the course: firstly, the cars are the same size, so anyone near the age limit might have a hard time fitting in! Also, the cars have no reverse, just a brake. This meant when I tried to do a U-turn, I crashed into a wall and couldn t reverse back out and when my sister tried a three point turn it failed. Another fun thing is the Imagination Centre. In here, you can choose between two activities- build and race a car or build and test an earthquake proof building. When building a car, you need to borrow wheels from the front counter. After you have perfected your car, you can place it on one of the starting grids of the slopes, press down the gate and watch it go! In the earthquake test, build a tower out of Duplo bricks and hit the button to start the earthquake! By twiddling the knob, you can adjust the magnitude of the earthquake.
3 In Miniland, you can walk about and view the most famous Asian landmarks-all in Lego, and with figures to populate them! You can also interact with the models, for instance by making snakes appear at the snake charmer stall by the Taj Mahal or firing the Merlion s water stream in Singapore. There is a MASSIVE model of the Petronas Twin Towers, in Kuala Lumpur. Good scenes include the docks, airport, Twin Towers and the Penang pirate ship. The shops at Legoland are superb. Outside of the actual park is a shopping mall area, built at the same time as Legoland, which is good for dinner after you have visited. Inside the park, there are a few especially themed shops dotted around the place in their corresponding themed areas (e.g. in the Castle area the shop sells food and Lego Castle products). Near the entrance are the Brick Shop and the Big Shop. In the Brick Shop there is a small selection of individual bricks to put in a bag and buy. The bag is priced by the weight. Also, there is a make-yourown-minifigure station and a stand of key chains. If you have been to Legoland Windsor, then you will be disappointed by the range of buildable sets. The shop is about the same size as Windsor, but this is mainly because of exclusive, non-set products like stickers. That is about all I have to say! I hope this article/review helped you decide about Legoland Malaysia! By Duncan 5A

12 On Tuesday November 13 Patana School had their annual international day for Every one dressed up even my koala, we both enjoyed it and we are sure many others enjoyed it too. The food tasting was delicious, so many different flavours and smells, yummy! My favourite thing was the expo. It was so cool as it had all the games and prises. My favourite place was the Christmas place that gave you toys. I also liked the march because it was really cool seeing all the different country s outfits. It was really funny because there was a girl dressed up as a koala in front of me. Believe it or not I saw a little kid wearing a big blue hat holding a flag he must have been strong because that flag looked heavy. When we had the food tasting I think the best thing was the meat balls.
