1 I Can Statements Assess yourself with the material we have covered throughout Unit 1. Put a +,, or - before each statement. This will show you what you mastered and what you still need to work on before the assessment. + = I got it! = I almost have it. I need to review a little. - = I need to relearn this UNIDAD 1 Alphabet: I know how to say all of the letters of the Spanish Alphabet. I can understand all of the letters of the Spanish Alphabet when I hear them I can spell words using the Spanish Alphabet. Greetings and Farewells: I know the difference between tú and usted. I can ask someone s name. I can tell my name. I can ask someone s age. I can tell someone my age. I can ask how someone feels. I can say how I feel. Spanish-Speaking Countries: Numbers: I can ask where someone is from. I can say where I am from. I know the location of all of the Spanish-Speaking countries on a map. I can count from in Spanish. I can find the missing number in a pattern.
2 Time: I know how to say and write the time in Spanish. I know how to tell the difference between the morning, afternoon, and night. Culture: I know the difference between con permiso and perdón. I know what a quinceñera is. I know how Spanish-speakers greet one another. UNIDAD 2 SUBJECT PRONOUNS: SER: ESTAR: I can identify all 6 subject pronouns. I can state their meanings in English. I can replace a subject with its correct subject pronoun. I can conjugate the verb SER. I can state the meaning of SER and the meanings of all the conjugations of SER in English. I can use SER to describe myself, describe other people, and describe objects (other nouns). I can use SER to tell where I am from and where other people are from. I can conjugate the verb ESTAR. I can state the meaning of ESTAR and the meanings of all the conjugations of ESTAR in English. I can use ESTAR to describe how I feel and describe how other people feel. I can use ESTAR to tell where I am located, where other people are located, and where objects (other nouns) are located.
3 HAY: I can pronounce and sate the meaning of the verb HAY. I can describe a classroom setting using the verb HAY. GENDER/NOUNS/ARTICLES/ADJECTIVES: I can explain gender (masculine/feminine) rules. I can state what endings are masculine and what endings are feminine. I can identify masculine and feminine nouns. I can make a noun plural. I can identify a singular noun from a plural noun. I can state the 8 different articles and when to use them. I can identify an adjective. I can explain the rules of adjectives in the Spanish language and compare them to how they are used in English. I can describe classroom objects using correct adjective, gender, and number agreement. I can describe clothing using correct adjective, gender, and number agreement. CLASSES AND CLASS SCHEDULES: AR VERBS: I can describe my class schedule. I can say what day I have classes and at what time the class begins and ends. I can ask about someone else s schedule; what day he/she has a class and what time that class begins and ends. I can ask someone what he/she needs for class. I can describe what I need for class and what others need for class. I can ask what someone s favorite class is. I can state and describe my favorite class. I know the 5 regular AR endings in the present tense. I can conjugate regular AR verbs in the present tense. I can describe what I and other people do in the present tense using the verbs: HABLAR, ESTUDIAR, TERMINAR, and NECESITAR. I can describe what I wear and what other people wear using the verb: LLEVAR
4 VOCABULARY: I can understand and use vocabulary from the following topics: Los objetos en la clase La ropa Los días de la semana Los colores Las clases Los verbos -AR verbs, Hay, etc. UNIDAD 3 VERBS: QUESTIONS: I can correctly conjugate regular verbs that end in er: COMER, BEBER, COMPRENDER, LEER. I can correctly conjugate irregular verbs that end in er: SABER, HACER, VER. I can correctly form questions by switching the order of the subject and the verb. I can correctly form questions by adding a tag to the end of a statement. I can correctly form questions by using a question word: Qué?, Por qué?, Cuánto/os/a/as?, Cuál/es?, Quién/es?, Cómo?, Dónde?, A dónde?, De dónde? I can invite someone to do something using Quieres? and Por qué no? I can answer a variety of questions INTRODUCTIONS: THE VERB IR: I can introduce people both formally and informally to other people. I can express courtesy. I can correctly conjugate the verb IR. I can say where I am going using IR + a + location.

I can ask and answer questions in a restaurant setting, UNIDAD 4 FAMILY and FRIENDS: VERBS: GUSTAR: I can talk about my family and my friends. I can talk about other people s family and friends. I can use possessive adjectives to show the relationship between myself and other people. I can use possessive adjectives to show the relationship between other people. I can correctly conjugate regular verbs that end in ir: VIVIR, I can correctly conjugate the verb: SALIR I can say what is pleasing to me (what I like or like to do).
