1 YOUR COMMUNITY. YOUR THEATRE SEASON NOW SHOWING Wednesday - Saturday, June :30 p.m. Sunday, June 15 2:30 p.m. BY YASMINA REZA TRANSLATED BY CHRISTOPHER HAMPTON American News photo by John Davis.

2 FROM THE ARTISTIC/MANAGING DIRECTOR Welcome. We hope you enjoy our production of this Tony Award winning play billed as a comedy of manners, without the manners. It s a small cast, only four, but it is a pleasure to welcome someone new to ACT s stage: Jill Spindler. I sincerely appreciate all those who have been involved in previous ACT productions, but first-time performers always have a special place in the ACT volunteer family and deserve recognition. Everyone in this show was a newcomer at one time actually not that long ago. Kelly Comstock made her ACT debut last season in Doubt, A Parable. Eliot Lucas first appeared in ACT s festival show in 2011 s Perfectly Normal and Healthy and Steve Balsarini started with ACT in The Producer s in August, So, all have debuted in ACT productions in the last five years. I hope you will be the next ACT newcomer. We know you have all been made aware of the strong adult language in this production. It has been asked, Why do shows that have this kind of language? Well, we try to do a wide variety theater productions here at ACT and it is difficult to find plays written in the last decade that do not have some language issue. We need to do shows that our volunteer actors want to perform, as well as shows audiences will come see all to broaden our live experiences. We do not expect to please everyone with every production. What we do is try to do the best job we can with the resources we have at any given time. And, we sincerely appreciate you attending and making up your own mind about each and every production. Community theater can only work when the community is a part of each show. The summer musical Little Shop of Horrors, will be presented August The box office opens July 15 for ACT subscribers and July 21 for the general public. Which reminds me, if you are not an ACT subscriber, it s not too late. Use the back page of the program and play a part in your community theater. And subscribers get the best deal on tickets for Little Shop as well as White Christmas coming in November and one other show, yet to be determined in between. Thanks again for coming, showing your support and being a part of your community theater. JAMES L. 7 CAST AND CREW NOTES STEVE BALSARINI (Alan Raleigh) teaches and tutors at Northern State University (NSU). He was last seen on ACT s stage as Father Flynn in ACT s 2013 production of Doubt, A Parable. Other ACT credits include Sir Lancelot in Spamalot (2012), Mitch Albom in Tuesdays with Morrie (2011) and Max Bialystock in The Producers (2009). He has also appeared on NSU and Northern Fort Playhouse stages. THANKS TO OUR 2014 SEASON SPONSORS JILL SPINDLER (Annette Raleigh) is a writing instructor, turned corporate lawyer, turned baker, writer, gardener and chicken farmer. She wrote, directed and starred in her first play, Snow White and the Wicked Witch, at age five. The play was met with warm reception, but then one s parents are seldom the most reliable critics. Following her debut performance, she took a thirty-year break from the stage, only now to return. This is her first ACT appearance. ELIOT LUCAS (Michael Novak) works as a Graphic Designer at McQuillen Creative Group (and designed the program in your very hands). He last appeared as Don in ACT s production of Leaving Iowa (2012). Eliot has enjoyed being a part of this small cast and the opportunities it brings to play off of one another. He says, it s very intimate and personal. It s a thrill to be a part of that energy. Sally & Ka P. Squire KELLY COMSTOCK (Veronica Novak) is excited to be back on the Capitol stage after her ACT debut as Sister Aloysius in Doubt, A Parable (2013). Prior to that performance, it had been 20 years since she last appeared on stage at South Dakota State University. She and her husband, Eric, have lived in Aberdeen 12 years. They have a 10-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter that keep them very busy. JAMES L. WALKER (director/scenic design) is an Aberdeen native. He has acted, directed and adjudicated professionally for more than 30 years and has been ACT s artistic/managing director for 28 years. He has earned numerous directing and scenic design awards. Jim was appointed by the governor to the South Dakota Arts Council in 2008 and currently serves as vice-chair. Jim is also a member of the national board of directors of the American Association of Community Theatre. Michael & Barbara Evans Bill & Karen Edwards ABERDEEN COMMUNITY THEATRE 7

MARILYN DAVIS (costumer) made her ACT main stage costuming debut for Anything Goes (2006), after costuming many YPT shows. Since then, she has costumed more than 25 shows. Davis received Best Costumes at the 2009 AACT Region V festival for her work in ACT s How to Talk Minnesotan: The Musical.
