For more information or to contribute to this scholarship endowment fund, contact ACT at (605) Welcome, thanks for coming to Mavis Pleads the Fourth. We weren t originally anticipating making this festival show a part of your season subscription, but with the production advancing to the Region V festival in Brainerd, MN on April 27-30, the calendar tightened dramatically and it seemed like the best choice for getting the cast in front of as many audiences as possible, as we continue through the 2017 AACTFest cycle. You, the audience, are such an important part of the festival process and helping us prepare for the Region V festival. Thanks so much for helping us by attending this performance. We would not be able to do these award-winning productions without your help. Thanks for your support as an audience; and for your financial contributions allowing ACT to participate in these festivals. It s a wonderful educational experience for those involved, and we couldn t do it without your continued support. Thanks. I m so proud of the ACT volunteers who helped write this show, as well as the entire cast and crew for being chosen to represent SD at the regional festival. A little history: ACT has participated in every odd-year biennial festival since our inception in We have been very fortunate to have won the state and advanced to the region festival more times than not in those 37 years and have been selected to advance to the national festival twice, 2007 with Honk! and 2009 with How to Talk Minnesotan. Speaking of Minnesota, this year the region festival is in Brainerd, MN and the national festival is in Rochester, MN. So what better than to write a show with Mavis Busk as the main character, who hails from that great state and has lived her entire life in northern Minnesota. I hope you enjoy the efforts of this truly original Aberdeen Community Theatre production. Please stay for a few minutes after the show to chat with the cast and crew and talk about the American Association of Community Theatre festival cycle. If you can help our ACT volunteers with the expenses of getting Mavis to Brainerd, MN it would be MOST appreciated. Use the back page of the program or drop a contribution in the hat as you leave the theater. Don t miss the ACT After Dark production of Constellations, directed by Seth Honerman. The performances will be held in Theatre B, our new 90-seat theater. Because of the nightly movies being screened, the performances begin at 10 p.m. on April 27th and 28th, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on April 29th. Hope you ll attend this ACT After Dark production. Next up on the Capitol s main stage is Sister Act. Auditions are April 30th and May 1st at 7 p.m., right here on the Capitol Theatre. If you ve ever wanted to be on stage, especially as a nun, please come and audition. The production dates for Sister Act are tentatively scheduled for June 20-25, but we won t know for sure until after auditions. Thanks again for coming, talk to you after the show. JAMES L. WALKER 2
