We think everyone will see some of themselves at different stages of life in this production. After this five-day run, Rated P for Parenthood will be cut to a 60-minute version in order to be a part of the American Association of Community Theatre AACTFest 2019 cycle and will be an entry in the SD festival. After the state festival productions, there is a regional festival and a national festival. Aberdeen is the host for the Region V Festival, which will be held April here at the Capitol Theatre. We hope you will come and participate and support local community theatre from AACT Region V, which includes IA, KS, MN, MO, NE, ND and SD. We are very pleased to be working with the Aberdeen Diversity Coalition for the next main stage production at the Capitol Theatre. Breaking Ice, presented by the Pillsbury House Theatre in Minneapolis, MN will be performing right after the regional festival on May 1-5, live on stage at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets go on sale to subscribers on Tuesday, April 9th and the public on Monday, April 15th at Riddle s Jewelry in the Aberdeen Mall. And don t forget Mamma Mia, the summer musical, which auditions on April 22 & 23 at 7 pm here on the Capitol Theatre stage and is scheduled to perform June Thanks again for coming. FROM THE DIRECTOR Welcome to Rated P for Parenthood! We re glad you re here you re going to have a terrific time. This show is unique, in that it is modern, yet familiar. Gen-Xers and Millenials will love it because it relates to parenthood in the 21st century. But Baby Boomers and older will love it too, because really there is nothing new under the sun: babies still cry, there are always hurdles to overcome, some conversations are still difficult, surprises still come when you least expect them and letting go still yanks the heartstrings. And through it all, there is the attempt to retain one s identity more than just being So-And-So s parent. So whether you re a new parent, seasoned parent, empty-nester or had parents, you re going to find yourself in these hilarious and poignant scenes. This show is a perfect kick-off to our 2019 season IGNITE: Your Passion. Your Theater. Why the catchy phrase? Well, we are grateful to each and every one of you for your patronage, volunteerism and your steadfast commitment to everything ACT does. Honestly without you, we would not exist. So we decided the time is ripe to dedicate greater effort toward providing more opportunities for engagement at your community theater. We are so happy to have you here; we want you to be equally thrilled to be here! We know you already do a tremendous job sharing with your friends, family, co-workers even casual acquaintances what great things we have going at ACT. But we really need your help to spread the word; to encourage others to get into the ACT through patronage, contributions, and, most importantly, volunteerism. Tell them! Tell them what ACT means to you. Let your passion and enthusiasm spill into these other people. The wonderful thing about enthusiasm is that it s contagious. So, let s spread it! If you ve been following us online or have been reading the ACT Marquee newsletter, you see we ve announced five of the six mainstage shows, and have already begun an entire slate of new and returning activities. So check back often we re sure you re going to find several activities you d like to be part of. Now, get ready to have fun! Let us know what you think of all the great things we re doing here at your community theater. Thanks again for coming! ACT gratefully acknowledges the following organizations and individuals for gifts and pledges received for the 2019 season. Your Contributing Support is essential to managing the daily operating costs of the Capitol which includes electricity, gas, upkeep, janitorial, etc. It is only through your generous support that ACT can continue to maintain the Capitol Theatre on Aberdeen s historic Main Street while continuing our artistic growth.
