1 /gain Registered Charity in England & Wales ( ) Rhifyn Issue 90 Gorffennaf July 2017 BEWARE OF UNWANTED VISITORS On Tuesday 6 th June, 2017, we had a Green Land Rover Freelander, bearing stick-on white lettering 'Professional Jet Celaning' (should probably be cleaning but mis-spelt) with a mobile phone number displayed on it. This vehicle was bearing an Irish number plate 01WW3117. There were two Irish males with this vehicle. They attempted to charge 1, for jet washing a yard and roof. It would appear that they intended to target lone occupiers or vulnerable people. However that does not stop them trying to cheat anyone else. Those carrying out these Cold Calls are usually adept in talking the unwitting householders to have work carried out, whether needed or not, at exorbitant prices. Never deal with people 'cold calling' at your house offering services. Use recommended local tradesman so you won t be cheated and hugely over charged for simple jobs. If you have anyone calling take the details of vehicles, keep any fliers and any other details you can gather and contact the Police. Don't get caught out and cheated. If in doubt don't answer the door. The Police were contacted on the day and spoke to the occupants of the vehicle. I had reports that they had made calls around Ystrad Meurig. It is also the time of the year to make sure power tools and other portable equipment are kept safe and secure.
