That s a 43% discount from the general admission price of $10.50, which is the same discount as when we opened in And membership entitles you to a $6 ticket at all Renew theaters (County, Ambler, Hiway, Garden) as well as at all participating Art House Theaters nationwide. Why the price increase? Because our film distributors require it. Each movie that we screen is supplied by a film distributor. They share in our ticket revenues. In order to maintain our relationships with them, we must implement competitive price increases. Or they will not continue to supply us with their movies. Effective January 1, We first announced this change in November of 2013 in our quarterly Previews Magazine, on-screen, and on our website. We delayed the change as long as we could, but it is finally time to implement it. Policies Children under 6 Children under age 6 will not be admitted to our films or programs unless specifically indicated. Late Arrivals The theater reserves the right to stop selling tickets (and/or seating patrons) after a film has started. Outside Food and Drink Patrons are not permitted to bring outside food and drink into the theater. Accessibility & Hearing Assistance The Ambler Theater has wheelchair-accessible auditoriums and restrooms, and is equipped with hearing enhancement devices. 3 MAIN ATTRACTIONS Main Attractions What main films will play at the Ambler? This section lists the Main Attractions that we intend to play in the coming weeks. Additional unlisted films will also become available. This list is only an educated guess, though, since film release plans often change. When will these main films play? Scheduling our Main Attractions is weekto-week. On Monday, we decide what main films will play starting that Friday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we set the showtimes for the upcoming week and then update our website and telephone hotline. We also send out a weekly (which you can receive by signing up at our website). Sometimes, we book a main film a few weeks in advance, which we post on our website s Coming Attractions section. For our latest Main Attractions plans, visit: AmblerTheater.org (Or call our hotline at ) The Theory of Everything The Theory of Everything UK 2 hr 3 min James Marsh Eddie Redmayne gives a gripping performance as famous physicist Stephen Hawking in this stirring drama about his relationship with his wife Jane and their joint battle against his illness. As Hawking s ideas expand to encompass time and space, his physical abilities contract. This remarkable chronicle of one of the greatest minds of our time is also the story of two unstoppable spirits. The Imitation Game UK - 1 hr 54 min - Morten Tyldum Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Alan Turing, the genius British mathematician, cryptologist, and computer scientist who led the charge to crack the German Enigma Code, which helped win WWII. But while leading his team of scholars and intelligence officers, Turing was hiding secrets of his own - he was prosecuted by the UK government for homosexual acts. This thrilling historical drama also stars Keira Knightley and Matthew Goode. Force Majeure Sweden - 1 hr 58 min - Ruben Östlund w/subtitles While vacationing in the French Alps, a Swedish family witnesses a threatening avalanche. They must then come to terms with their actions in the face of that incident. Relationships and family bonds are pushed to their limits. This thought-provoking Scandinavian film is an intriguing, challenging consideration of ego and family dynamics and was a crowd favorite at the Cannes and Toronto Fests.

4 MAIN ATTRACTIONS Force Majeure Red Army USA/Russia 1 hr 16 min Gabe Polsky Witty and fast-paced, this documentary examines the history and politics of the Soviet Union from the perspective of the Red Army hockey team s coach, Slava Fetisov. Insightful and riveting for even non-sports fans, the film shows how sports mirror social and cultural movements as it tracks the rise and fall of the incredible Red Army team. Wild USA - 1 hr 55 min - Jean-Marc Vallée Reese Witherspoon delivers one of the year s best performances in this dramatization of one woman s solo 1,100-mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. At once an epic cinematic experience and a profoundly intimate personal narrative, WILD is an odyssey of loss and self-discovery. Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyers Club) directed this adaptation (by Nick Hornby) of Cheryl Strayed s best-selling memoir. Mr. Turner UK - 2 hr 30 min - Mike Leigh Mike Leigh s new film is about the brilliant and eccentric 19th century painter J.M.W. Turner, who was both celebrated and reviled as he rose to national acclaim. Sometimes, however, we are unable to play a film in a timely or complete way, and it becomes a question of either squeezing it in or not playing it at all. We then often schedule that film for a couple of mid-week screenings, called Limited Engagements. Make sure that you sign up for our weekly , so that you don t miss these short, last-chance screenings. Still Alice Inherent Vice USA 2 hr 28 min Paul Thomas Anderson At the intersection of psychedelic stoner comedy and noir detective mystery is this audacious, star-studded adaptation of Thomas Pynchon s novel from director P. T. Anderson. Joaquin Phoenix plays a PI drawn into a twist-filled plot when his ex-old lady shows up with a story about her billionaire boyfriend, the boyfriend s wife and the wife s boyfriend. This vivid, Lebowski-esque romp is guaranteed to confound and delight. Leviathan Russia 2 hr 20 min Andrey Zvyagintsev w/subtitles On the outskirts of a small Russian town, an ordinary family battles a corrupt mayor who wants their land, house, and business. With a sweeping beauty, LEVIATHAN finds the humanity in a story of dispiriting struggle. The film s rich lyricism and poetry accentuate the state of politics and religion in modern-day Russia. Still Alice USA 1 hr 39 min - Richard Glatzer, Wash Westmoreland Julianne Moore gives a stunning performance as a renowned linguistics professor with early-onset Alzheimer s. This superbly powerful drama is a compassionate, but honest, look at the illness s impact on both its victim and her family. Based on the bestselling 2007 novel. This spring s groundbreaking new productions include a staging of the classic Treasure Island, a new play by Tom Stoppard, and a special Broadway production of Of Mice and Men. Tickets: $18 General $16 Members JOHN JOHN is a new dance-theatre work by Lloyd Newson, Artistic Director of DV8 Physical Theatre. It depicts real-life stories with movement and spoken word to create an intense, moving, and poignant theatrical experience. Based on documentary interviews, what emerges is a story of crime, drugs, and the struggle to survive. Be forewarned, JOHN contains adult themes, strong language, and nudity and is not suitable for viewers under the age of 18. Treasure Island Robert Louis Stevenson s 19th century story of murder, money, and mutiny is brought to life in a thrilling new stage adaptation by Bryony Lavery. On a dark, stormy night, the innkeeper s granddaughter opens the door to a terrifying stranger. An old sailor opens a huge sea chest full of secrets and so begins an adventure with buccaneers in search of buried gold. This production is suitable for children 10 & older. 13 Your community theater. At the center of Ambler For more than 85 years, the Ambler Theater has been at the heart of Ambler. It opened on December 31, 1928 with the silent film Our Dancing Daughters, starring Joan Crawford. By the 1970s, with competition from TV and the multiplexes, the Ambler could no longer continue as a for-profit theater with mainstream movies. From the 1970s until 1997, it was run as a Christian cinema before closing again. In 2002, the non-profit Ambler Theater, Inc. acquired the building, made substantial renovations, and reopened on February 28, Since then, the Ambler has helped stimulate revitalization in Ambler Borough and the surrounding communities. A cultural resource The Ambler Theater offers a variety of films and events for all ages and interests. We present kids films, members-only sneak previews, and discussions with writers and filmmakers. Our Lively Arts Series presents live performances from London s National Theatre and other world-class venues. Screenings of classic films bring Hollywood stars to life on the big screen. And every week we screen a full schedule of newly released art, independent and foreign films. Available for rental The Ambler is also a wonderful venue for private and group events, from children s birthday parties to business meetings to special events. From Jan. 20-Feb. 8, we present Mark Twain Tonight, a new one-man show about American s sharpest wit and greatest storyteller. Then in late Feburary, we open the hilarious comedy Unnecessary Farce.
