4 Open Studios & Galleries Stiwdios Agored ac Orielau until Sun 11 April tan Sul 11 Ebrill April Ebrill Two weeks of Island-wide Open Studios and Galleries, promoted by the Anglesey Arts Forum to celebrate the rich and varied creative talents on Anglesey. Over 56 studios and galleries are opening their doors this year. In addition to the open studios, there will be workshops and exhibitions. 11 April - Ebrill The Pearl Fishers Saturday 17 Sadwrn Swansea City Opera s exquisite production of The Pearl Fishers is reprised, but this time sung in English. Beautifully costumed and fully cast, with a live orchestra, Bizet's steamy tale of a tautly-woven friendship, loyalty, and forbidden love, will look and sound fantastic in Ucheldre. Two fishermen recall a pact they made not to pursue Leila, a woman for whom both had developed a deep affection. Book early to avoid disappointment. 13 Lit Soc/Rhwng Saturday 1 Sadwrn WORD AND WORLD: a Creative Writing workshop with PAUL MATTHEWS How close up to the world and to each other can we get with our words? That is a question we will be carrying as we write together (collaboratively and individually, playfully and profoundly) on this May Day when spring is speaking so vividly to us through all her forms and colours. The day is open for beginners and the more experienced alike. May - Mai Paul Matthews has recently retired from his full time teaching at Emerson College, in Sussex. He has travelled with his work in USA, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Norway, Sweden and in the UK. His on-going explorations of the creative process are gathered in his books, Sing Me the Creation, and Words in Place (published by Hawthorn Press). He is the founder of Poetry OtherWise.
