4 How to Power Up the Room (Room is Powered Off) (Room is Powered On) To Power Up Room, click Begin Session or Room is Off button The Start-up Screen s top button both controls and displays room power status. To determine room power, note the color of the top button: If the room is on, the button will be RED and read "Room is ON." If it is GRAY, the room is off and the top button will read, "Room is Off.

5 How to Conduct a Stand-Alone Session To operate DL-Navigator for local room control: (To use the system for a multimedia presentation/ local room operations, you will need to begin a session) Screen 1: Select Begin Session Screen 2: Select Enter Screen 3: Main Screen Control

6 How to Conduct a Scheduled Session To operate DL-Navigator for a scheduled session: (Upon entering the room, the system is live and ready) Instructor Camera will be the active Program Transmit Source Site Buttons for remote sites will be visible Your local site button will be colored red

7 How to Take Far- End Control To take room control of a remote site: (Remote site buttons will be visible in the lower left corner of the main screen) Press the Site Button of the Site you want to control If it was not already located directly beneath your local site button when you pressed it, press again You now have full control of all the remote site s devices Instructor Camera is the default control source Click on your local site button to end far-end control

8 System Defaults Originate & Remote Preset Configuration (Local Program Sources) DL-Navigator will configure video based on how the room is being used. As an Originator, the Instructor Camera will always be the default video source. As a Remote, or Receive Site (as pictured at the right) the Student Camera will be the default video source. Record VCR Default Configuration The Program Source will be the default recorded source when your site is in the Originate Mode. The Receive (Instructor) video will be the default record source when the site is in Remote Mode.

9 System Defaults Room Reset Button (Lower right corner of main screen) By default, clicking the Room Reset button will bring the system back to its initial configuration. (Cameras to home, matrix reset to Originate or Remote video preset, etc.) Terminate Session (Upper left of main screen) This is the default to exit session. If you are the Originator of the session, clicking the terminate session button will ask the user for confirmation of termination. Confirming Yes will terminate the session. To terminate the session as a remote site, you will be asked to provide a shutdown passcode. (Level 2 Passcode: 13).

10 Video Source Switching Options Video Switching from the Program Source Section (Two-push process is based on a model of Preview and Control) Program and Preview (A two-push process) - Pressing any Program Source button once will preview the selected video source in the preview window of the local DL-Navigator only, and the button will turn yellow. - Pressing the button again will make it the active program source, turn the button red, and the video will be displayed in the local room as well as send it to any other sites connected in the session.

12 Instructor/ Student Cameras The form at right will appear when a camera button is selected. (In this example the Instructor camera button has been selected) Camera Specified On the top bar of the form, Instructor or Student will be noted as to which camera you are currently controlling. More Presets The More Presets button on the form at right will bring up additional presets as well as the Store button for storing these presets.

13 Instructor/ Student Cameras How to Store a Camera Preset (In this example the Instructor camera button has been selected) 1. Move the Camera to Desired Preset Position 2. Press the More Presets button to expand the form (and make the Store button visible) 3. Press the Store button so that it turns red (indicating it is active/ ready to store) 4. Press the button of the preset # of where you want the preset stored

14 DVD/VCR Combo All standard DVD/VCR operations control plus: Change Record Source Clicking this button allows the user to select one individual source to be recorded. Follow Program With this option, the source you are currently transmitting on the network is also sent to your VCR. This is very useful while teaching since any selected source is captured on the videotape.

15 Audio Settings Control Mute/UnMute These buttons will mute and unmute both the incoming and outgoing audio to other sites. System Volume The System Volume adjusts the volume level to the amplifier in your local room only. VCR Volume Because of varying audio levels between VHS Tapes & DVDs, the VCR Volume level controls adjust the incoming audio from the VCR / DVD player only.

16 Telephone Dialer Dial Up Pressing the Dial Up button on the Audio Settings form displays the telephone dialer keypad. Pressing the button again will hide the dialer controls. Dialer Options Auto-Answer buttons allow the user to set whether incoming calls are answered automatically. The Flash button provides the ability to conference in other callers. Add Phone Participant Click Dial Up on Audio Settings, key in phone number, and press Dial Now. At end of call, press Hang Up.

17 Picture-in-Picture/ Text-over-Video CG Control In addition to selecting the PIP Source, the Character Generator Text (Site Name) can be manually turned on or off. CG Text Automation By default, the CG Text will display whenever the Instructor and Student Cameras are selected. When the VCR/DVD, Document Camera and PC are selected, the CG will turn off automatically.

18 Power Down Room To Power Off the Room when finished: The Room will automatically power down after 10 minutes unless a session is launched or the screen is touched

19 Power Down Timeout (DL-Navigator will automatically power down in 10 minutes unless a session is launched or the screen is touched) The (10 Min) listed next to Room is ON indicates that a Power Down Timeout has begun. The Power Down Timeout is a default of 10 Minutes. When DL-Navigator is at the Start-up Screen and the room is on with no session scheduled, the power down timeout will start counting down. If the screen is untouched for the entire duration of the timer and a session is not scheduled, the room will power itself OFF when the Power Down Timeout expires.

20 System Security - Drive Shield Drive-Shield Benefits: (By security default, all system changes are discarded upon system reboot at 4 am daily.) 4 a.m. Automatic Daily Reboot with Drive Shield brings DL-Navigator back to its saved configuration Stops unauthorized system configuration/ tampering Prevents viruses from infecting CPU, DL-Navigator, or Windows XP Discards (deletes) any software installed or downloaded

21 Troubleshooting Touch Screen: Symptom: Touch Screen is not responding properly. As with any computer program, software malfunctions may occur randomly. When this type of problem occurs, first exit than reenter DL-Navigator. If this does not help the situation, exit DL-Navigator and manually reset/ restart the computer by small silver button on CPU. Symptom: The Touch Screen buttons are not positioned properly in relation to where I m pressing my finger. As with any computer program, software malfunctions may occur randomly. When this type of problem occurs, first exit than re-enter DL-Navigator. If this does not help the situation, exit DL-Navigator and manually reset/ restart the computer by small silver button on CPU.

22 Troubleshooting Video Equipment: Symptom: Video Monitors or VCR do not power up with the rest of system. The classroom monitors and the VCR are all controlled via infrared (IR) communications. This is only a simplex (one-way) form of communications. The control system has no way of determining whether this equipment is in an "on" or "off" state. If someone has turned this equipment on or off from the power button located on its front panel, the unit will be out of sync with the rest of the equipment in the classroom. To remedy this situation, turn on the unit in question from the front panel manually. Symptom: VCR is not recording video or audio properly. As with any computer program, software malfunctions may occur randomly. When this type of problem occurs, first exit than re-enter DL-Navigator. If this does not help the situation, exit DL-Navigator and manually reset/ restart the computer by small silver button on CPU.

23 Troubleshooting Room Power & Site Listing: Symptom: Room won t power up for a session. If at the four-button opening screen of DL-Navigator, press Begin Session, and Enter on the following screen. The room will power up and go into local room session. If a session with remote sites is scheduled, it will interrupt and take over screen. Symptom: One of the remote sites in not listed on the originator s control screen during a scheduled session. 1) Click the button of the site without a name 2 times 2) Click your local Site Control button 3) Click the Matrix Device button. 4) Click EXIT. 5) The site name should now be there.

24 Troubleshooting Cameras: Symptom: The Student Camera does not respond when microphone bar is pressed. There is a two-position switch on the bottom of the microphone bases. This switch must be slid toward the microphone cable on all student microphones.

25 Troubleshooting Audio Problems: Symptom: All other sites in the session cannot hear me. 1) See if the system mute button has been pushed on the DL-Navigator touch screen controller. 2) Make sure there is power to the Echo Canceller located in equipment rack. Note the response when talking into microphone at a normal speaking level prior to calling the help desk. Symptom: Only some of the other sites in the session cannot hear me. The problem is probably not caused by your site. Have the remote site follow procedure above. Symptom: I cannot hear any of the remote sites. 1) Check that the power amp is on. 2) Make sure the knob on the power amp is at its marked position.

26 Troubleshooting Audio Problems: Symptom: There is no audio being received and/or transmitted. 1) Check to make sure all equipment is powered on. 2) Make sure all control knobs are at their reference dot position. 3) Click on Echo Canceller device control button to check condition of Mute buttons. Both the Mic Mute and System Mute buttons should be GRAY in color. Symptom: The wireless microphone does not work. The batteries are probably dead. Symptom: Some of the student microphones do not work. Disable the push-to-talk feature on the Audio Settings page and exit DL-Navigator. Reentering the program should put the room in an open mic mode. All mics should now operate properly.
