The final document is now completed and has been approved by the administrative council on November 28 th, This document is outlining our upcoming projects and is the result of a consultation with members and with representatives of the ministère de la Culture et des Communications regional direction. All that is left to do now is to make it happen! Have you got your PIN? contest Recently, you received promotional material for the Have you got your PIN? contest. This initiative s objective is to promote the new PIN service to the citizens of your municipality. We would like to remind you that the contest starts December 4 th, 2006 and ends March 31, When a user obtains his or her PIN, he or she is given a contest ballot. The grand prize is a $1000 gift certificate exchangeable at the Réflexion bookstore! Go ahead! Spread the news and promote the PIN throughout the Réseau! With it, your users have access to new tools: consultation of their user record, reservation and renewal of documents, access to databases and all this from their home! Rotation box correct identification 7 Book donations 7 Important Reminder For the smooth running of the Committee, it s ESSENTIAL that all its members are kept informed of all pieces of information received. Don t forget to pass round this Info-Bulles Newsletter to all members of the Library Committee.
2 Page 2 Canada Post Canada Post has informed us that a «library books» parcel weight must not exceed more than 5 kilos. Items with highest shipping charge will be billed at regular rate. To avoid this situation we will use only the blue mailbags to mail interlibrary loans documents. Their weight is less than five kilos. In each mailbag, you will find a postage paid return form and a clear envelope. To return the documents, remove the existing clear envelope from the blue mailbag. Put the postage paid form in the new clear envelope and affix it to the mailbag, on top of the window. It is important that you return all the black mailbags with your book exchange or when the staff of the CRSBPO visits your library. For more information, contact Claudette Deschênes, office clerk. Upcoming training sessions Spring will arrive faster than you think! Please remember to include these training sessions in your agenda: February 22 L historien et ses archives (Maison de la culture de Gatineau) April 16 Attirer et fidéliser la clientèle ado ( Namur library) April 24 Bases de données : Biblio-Branchée, Hachette et Universalis (CRSBP) April 21 Ma biblio en $anté (or la gestion financière de la biblio) (Chelsea library) Need a hand to advertise your activities? Please contact us when organizing an activity in your library: we will be happy to send you promotional posters. In addition, we will send out a press release to local newspapers to advertise your activity! To enrol or for more information, please contact Claudine Patry, in charge of Network Services. Dessine-moi l Outaouais! contest More than 1098 people entered the Dessine-moi l Outaouais! contest that was held from September 27 to October 31, The draw took place on November 17 th at the Réseau BIBLIO de l'outaouais offices. Mr. Claude Schnupp, of the Kazabazua library, won the first prize: a $600 gift basket filled with a wonderful selection of comic books. Mrs. Pierrette Beauvais of the Chénéville/Lac-Simon library won the second prize, a one-night stay at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton and two free passes to the Salon du livre de l Outaouais. Mrs. Marie Laframboise of the Saint-Émile-de- Suffolk library was the third winner. She won a comic book workshop offered by Studio Premières lignes. The Réseau BIBLIO de l'outaouais wants to thank its partners for contributing to the success of this contest: the Salon du livre de l Outaouais, the Rendez-vous international de la BD de Gatineau and Premières lignes. Literature tour Once again, during the month of October, several of the Réseau s libraries received the visit of various authors. The literature tours of the Canada Council for the arts and the Circuit des conférences de Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec allow us to benefit from fully subsidized activities! In January, we will contact you and offer you to receive authors in your library during the month of October Don t hesitate to welcome them! If you are interested, please contact Claudine Patry, in charge of Network Services.

A visit to the Grande bibliothèque Last October 17, approximately forty people made the trip to the Grande bibliothèque de Montréal. We would like to thank all for their participation! As the wheel turns We welcome Madame Sonia Labelle, the new person in charge of the Lac-Ste-Marie library. She is replacing Madame Mireille Beausoleil, whom we thank for her contribution to the Réseau BIBLIO de l'outaouais. The Réseau also welcomes Madame Éliana Brennan, the new person in charge of the Kazabazua library. She is taking the place of Madame Tammie Legue, whom we thank for her dynamic engagement in the library. She is leaving to take on new challenges. The CRSBP s offices will be closed from December 23, 2006 to January 7, We will be back on January 8 th, We wish all our members a Happy Holiday Season!
4 Page 4 Helpful documents On the Extranet, you can find several examples of helpful documents that you can use in the administration of your library: Annual report (Guides techniques/trousse BIBLIO) Action plan (Guides techniques/trousse BIBLIO) Library rules and regulations (Guides techniques/trousse BIBLIO) Late notices (Support/Formation) Users survey (Support/Formation) Job offers (Support/Formation) Thanks for books donations (Support/Formation) Promotional posters (Animation/Promotion) Requesting call numbers from the CRSBP When requesting call numbers from the CRSBP for your newly added books in MultiLIS, simply do as follow: send an to the documentation technician (collection.locale@crsbpo.qc.ca) and ask I would like to have call numbers for the following barcode numbers: x to x. Do not make copies of the barcodes, do not write the title, the name of the author or the number. The easier way for us to answer your request is to receive the sequence (in order) of the first and the last barcode number added in MultiLIS. If you have any questions, please contact the cataloguing staff. Important days January 27 Family Literacy Day February 14 Valentine s Day March 8 International Women s Day March 21 World Poetry Day March 27 World Theatre Day Library Day at the Salon du livre de l Outaouais Remember that March 2 nd, 2007 is Libraries Day at the Salon du livre de l Outaouais! In the morning, you will be able to attend a conference on remote services given by Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec. After a lunch buffet, you will be able to browse through the Salon. See you there! The library Extranet Visit it frequently! This tool is there for you! You can find a lot of documents useful for the daily management of your library (technical guides, activity hosting and training programs, CRSBP s policies, etc.). You can also find important news about the network via the News releases section. Further more, it is from the Extranet that you can modify and update your library Web page. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question on how to use it!
5 Page 5 Libraries are getting a new look Last September 30th, the Chelsea library inaugurated its new premises. After receiving a subsidy from the ministère de la Culture et des Communications in the context of the Soutien aux équipements culturels program, the Chelsea municipality expanded their library space. The new layout and the new equipment have transformed the library into a more welcoming and modern facility. Chelsea Local initiatives Namur Since the end of summer, the Namur Library moved to a new location. The place is spacious, has more light and is next to the elementary school, which allow children to visit the library more regularly. Last September 23 rd, the Wakefield library inaugurated its new reading room for teens. Aeron Vaillancourt, a young local artist, decorated the place. The Grand-Remous library is trying to retrieve all the documents that have not been returned at their due date. The municipality helped the person in charge of the library by creating a very eloquent letter addressed to users who failed to return their overdue documents. Great team work! At the Chelsea library, the mayor, Mr. Jean Perras, is telling stories! That s right! He is a frequent storyteller during the story time activity at the library. What a wonderful initiative! The Mansfield-et-Pontefract library has offered Internet introduction classes to its users. It is a service well liked by the older clientele. The last workshops were held during the Public Library Week, in October. The Kazabazua library organized a sauce recipe tasting and sharing activity! The Cantley library organized an activity promoting their library during the grand opening of the community centre, August 26. For the occasion, the library team distributed an information kit containing details about the library (opening hours, offered services, bookmarks, etc ) The author Lysette Brochu was present to enliven the kiosk. It was a great success! Hal- Last October 26, the Grand-Calumet library celebrated the Halloween with kids: an evening of crafts, stories, a loween bingo and popcorn. Young users were ecstatic! Tell us about your activities! They can inspire others!
6 Page 6 Task reminder for the ILL service It is very important to execute all the functions in the MultiLIS module "Collection exchange" when you perform Interlibrary loans (ILL). If you do not do it correctly, the document s request and tracking information will be erroneous. This will complicate the job of the persons in charge of the libraries and the CRSBP s staff. Here is a list of tasks that must be done to make sure that your books and requests are correctly processed and that your users receive their books more rapidly. 1- Answer other libraries requests every time the library is open. 2- Every week, ship all books that need to be sent to the CRSBP. 3- Immediately process all local and regional document collections received through ILL. 4- Regularly check the borrowed documents list to identify documents that are overdue and must be returned to the CRSBP as soon as possible. If you have doubts about the procedures, contact the ILL staff. Difference between picture book and youth novel When you complete electronic slips, remember to enter the correct document types and categories. An picture book is quite different from a youth novel. Usually an picture book has a lot more pictures and has fewer pages than the youth novel. Dimensions are different too: the picture book is usually much larger. If you are not sure when completing electronic slips, please communicate with the cataloguing staff. Automatic transfer When a book is requested and the library is not able to provide it, the request is automatically transferred to another library. If the document is not available anywhere, the request is queued up until a document becomes available again. The CRSBP s staff can, if appropriate, intervene to facilitate the request. Adding documents in MultiLIS We still have people who forget, when they add books in MultiLIS, to put a + before a call number beginning with a letter, a space instead of an apostrophe and the library abbreviation in capital letters after the call number. Here are some examples of correct and incorrect call numbers: Incorrect: Correct: J 454 C993 faum ; T231fman ; JR G2763midPER +J 454 C993f AUM ; T231f MAN ; +JR G2763mid PER If you have questions, consult the Saisie de la collection locale guide on the Extranet or contact the cataloguing staff.
