Lunch is served followed by a dynamic presentation given by a couple, some sharing, and concludes with prayer. The afternoon is conducted in Spanish but accommodations can be made for English only speaking couples. The group is open to all couples of the parish. 3 Dear Friends, The season of Christmas truly brought many blessings to our parish. The entire parish property was lit up with lights, wreaths, green roping and other decorations. The inside of our churches were beautifully adorned with trees, white branches and flowers. In your name, I wish to thank all of our paid staff and volunteers who worked so hard to make all of this happen! I also wish to thank our parish choirs in English and Spanish as well as their directors Ernie and Rafael; our lectors, altar servers, ushers and ministers of Holy Communion. Our children s choir under Rafael s direction offered a wonderful concert on Sunday, December 29 th and our children s theatre group under Sr. Tatiana s direction offered a prayerful production last Sunday in the school gym. Over 500 families came out to participate in the afternoon! (Remember it was icy and snowy!) Last s Sunday s play concluded with the Three Kings offering gifts to the children as well as a delicious lunch provided by our Guadalupe committee. Many of you participated in these events your support of the youth of our parish brings them much needed encouragement! Bravo!! To all of you!! You have truly made this season of Christmas a time of light and joy! Finally, I am pleased to announce that the Christmas gift to Saint Bartholomew Parish totaled $49, This amount is well above last years and shows once again the love, generosity and enthusiasm you have for this parish. Today we officially conclude the season of Christmas. May this Holy Child continue to bless us in this new year! Queridos Amigos, La temporada de la Navidad verdaderamente trajo muchas bendiciones a la parroquia. La propiedad parroquial entera fue alumbrada con luces, coronas, tiras verdes y otras decoraciones. Las Iglesias fueron adornadas con albores, ramas y flores. En su nombre, les doy las gracias a todos los trabajadores del equipo parroquial y los voluntarios quienes se esforzaron para que esto se pudiera realizar! También le quiero dar las gracias a los coros ingles y español además de sus directores, Ernie y Rafael; nuestros lectores, monaguillos, acomodadores y ministros extraordinarios de la sagrada comunión. Nuestro Coro de Niños bajo la dirección de Rafael nos ofrecieron un concierto maravilloso el domingo, 29 de Diciembre y nuestro Grupo de Teatro bajo la dirección de la Hermana Tatiana nos ofrecieron una presentación en oración el domingo pasado en el gimnasio de la escuela. Mas de 500 familias llegaron a participar en la tarde (recordemos que había mucho hielo y nieve)! La presentación del domingo pasado concluyo los Tres Reyes ofreciéndoles regalos a los niños y un delicioso almuerzo proveído por el Comité Guadalupano. Muchos de ustedes participaron en estos eventos - su apoyo a nuestros jóvenes les da a ellos el ánimo que necesitan! Bravo! A todos ustedes! Verdaderamente han hecho estas Navidades un tiempo de luz y alegría! Finalmente estoy muy contento de anunciarles que el Regalo de Navidad a San Bartolomé llego a un total de $49, Esta cantidad es mucho más que el año anterior y muestra una vez más el amor, generosidad y entusiasmo que tienen para esta parroquia. Hoy oficialmente se termina la Navidad! Que el Sagrado Niño continúe a bendecirnos en este nuevo año!

4 ENGLISH CHARISMATIC P R A Y E R G R O U P We are now in the process of forming a new prayer group which will meet on Saturdays beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the convent. We will begin by offering a Life in the Spirit Seminar and asking the Spirit to give us the lay leaders and music ministry that we will need. God always provides! He can never fail us!! Our first encounter will take place on Saturday, February 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the convent (Whitney and Judge) It seems far away but it s only about 7 weeks away! Those who are able to attend are asked to please contact Father Rick with your name and number so we can begin to make proper arrangements. In the meantime, pray that God s Holy Spirit will bring many parishioners to our new prayer group! PARISH USHER/WELCOMER DAY OF FORMATION One of Father Rick s New Year resolution is to strengthen our group of ushers and ministers of hospitality. All ushers will need to attend this important formation meeting if you can t make it we will schedule a make-up one for you! Are you interested in becoming an usher?? Please come to this meeting as well. We need more women and men to assist our parish in this important ministry. The meetings will take place in the main chuch: Wed, Jan 15 at 6:30 p.m. (SPANISH ONLY) and Sat, Jan 18 at 10:30 am (ENGLISH ONLY) MAT FLOW GROUP The Mat Flow Group now takes places every Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Heafey Hall (room under the chapel church). Everyone is invited to attend if you don t have a mat we will provide one for you. We pray; we do yoga exercises and we have lots of fun. Open to all men and women of the parish 18 and over. The group recently donated $400 to the parish thank you!! PARISH COUNCIL Our parish pastoral council will meet on Monday, January 13 at 6:30 p.m. in Heafey Hall. The new council is made up of representatives from all parish groups and ministries. We work on ideas to strengthen our parish life and invite others to be part of this wonderful parish. The names and pictures of our parish pastoral council will soon be posted on the website so that you will know the members and can approach them with comments or suggestions. SCHOOL OF EVANGELIZATION The parish staff is finalizing the names of those parishioners who will be invited to participate in a 7 week leadership course that will take place here in the parish and will be given by members of the parish staff. The course will take place in English and Spanish at a convenient date and time. Please pray that many of our parishioners will respond generously to this invitation. Las reuniones tendrán lugar en la Iglesia Principal: Miércoles 15 de Enero 6:30 p.m. (español solamente) y Sábado, 18 de Enero a las 10:30 a.m. (ingles solamente) BAILE EN LINEA Sera aplazado el próximo domingo, 19 de enero por la importante reunión con respecto al estatus protector temporario de los filipinos indocumentados el cual tendrá lugar en el gimnasio de la escuela a las 6:30 p.m. GRUPO DE ORACION CARISMATICO EN INGLES Estamos en el proceso de formar un grupo de oración nuevo el cual se reunirá los sábados comenzando a las 6:30 p.m. en el convento. Comenzaremos ofreciendo un seminario de la Vida en el Espíritu y orándole al Espíritu que nos de los lideres laicos y ministerios músicos que vamos a necesitar. Dios siempre proveerá! Nunca nos falla! Nuestro primer encuentro tendrá lugar el sábado, 1 de febrero a las 6:30 p.m. en el convento (Whitney Ave., esquina de Judge). La fecha parece lejos pero en verdad solo más 7 semanas! Para aquellos que puedan asistir favor de comunicarse con el Padre Rick y deje su nombre y número de teléfono para que podamos hacer los arreglos propios. Mientras tanto, oremos que el Espíritu Santo de Dios nos traiga muchos parroquianos a nuestro grupo nuevo! ESCUELA DE EVANGELIZACION El equipo parroquial está finalizando los nombres de aquellos parroquianos quienes serán invitados a participar en el curso de liderazgo de 7 semanas el cual tendrá lugar aquí en la parroquia y será administrada por miembros del equipo parroquial. El curso se dará en ingles y español en una fecha y hora conveniente. Favor de orar que muchos parroquianos respondan generosamente a esta invitación. GRUPO MAT FLOW El Grupo Mat Flow ahora tiene lugar cada lunes comenzando a las 7:30 p.m. en Heafey Hall (sótano de la Capilla). Todos están invitados a participar si no tienes un tapetito le podemos proveer uno. Nosotros oramos, hacemos ejercicios de Yoga y gozamos muchos. Hombres y mujeres de la parroquia mayores de 18 años de e d a d p u e d e n participar. El grupo recientemente hizo una donación a la parroquia de $400 - gracias!
