3 Pi c s p] U b Page 2 THE ROTUNDA, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1947 The questio of sororities ad whether to cotiue them or gradually disbad them at S. T. C. has bee ruig i a udercurret throughout the school for a log time. Let's brig it out ito the light for ope, frak discussio for there are boud to be importat pros ad cos or the questio would ever have arise. All the sororities o this campus, both the hoorary ad the social, were orgaized because a eed was felt for orgaizatios to foster high ideals, scholarship, leadership, ad to furish a meas to develop a skill i huma relatioships. Everyoe will agree that the hoorary sororities still maitai these objectives, but whereas the social oes adhere to them i theory their practice is ofte foud sadly lackig. If every sorority girl o this campus would read over her Code of Ethics ad really strive to live by it, what a valuable asset she would be to the college as well as to her ow group. Sadly eough we too ofte forget that to belog to a sorority is to have more expected of us. Of all the places where a girl should reach out to make as may cotacts as possible; exchage ideas, experieces, ad opiios, it is i college. Plaily the college is o place for petty jealouises ad a "holier tha-thou" attitude toward all others who are ot of her itimate g r oup. Oe of the greatest mistakes which we With the icrease i board loomig i the ear future, the "gripig" situatio here has become cosistetly worse. What the studets seem to fail to realize is the fact that food costs have soared recetly, ad what other sources seem to fail to realize is the fact that the studets do have some legitimate "gripes". It is true that may studets complai about the food ad do it solely because they ;a thik of othig else to "gripe" about other tha food. However, this is a legitimate complait; we eed more food. It is easy to see that oe small chicke caot possibly be divided amog te people ad Rive them more tha just a taste.
