3 THE BEST OF NEWS DESIGN CREATIVE COMPETITION Thirty-fourth Editio» This is a juried competitio sposored by the Society for News Desig ad the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Commuicatios at Syracuse Uiversity to recogize excellece i ews desig, graphics ad photography. Eligibility The 34th Editio competitio is ope to all geeral circulatio ad magazies. Newspapers may be daily or o-daily, broadsheet or compact, traditioal or alterative published aywhere i the world, as well as sydicates ad cooperatives providig material used i. All geeral circulatio magazies eve those ot published as part of a ewspaper are eligible to eter. All etries must have bee published betwee Ja. 1, 2012, ad Dec. 31, 2012, iclusive. You do ot eed to be a member of SND to eter. submitted i previous years are ieligible. Specialty publicatios, advertisig, publicity ad promotioal materials are ieligible. All magazies are eligible to eter the appropriate categories. Magazies o loger have to be prited as part of a ewspaper or distributed with a ewspaper. The competitio is limited to full pages, as published. No partial pages, Veloxes, PDFs or proofs will be accepted. Do ot submit origial artwork or photos. Submit oly umouted, fullpage tearsheets. Judges will evaluate each etry o how well it accomplishes its editorial ad desig objectives. I some categories such as illustratios, photographs ad iformatio graphics, etries will be viewed for the idividual piece, ot the etire page. If oly oe page elemet is submitted for judgig, idetify it by headlie or descriptio o the Etry Form. Please do ot write or put tape o the frot of pages! They will ot be used i The Best of News Desig book if you do. Awards Wiig etries receive Awards of Excellece, Silver medals or Gold medals for outstadig work. No etry may receive more tha oe award i the same sub-category. A additioal Judges Special Recogitio award may be give to ay wier, or for a body of work, whe the judges believe a etry is truly exceptioal. Multi-page etries are $30 each for publicatios with a circulatio of more tha 50,000; $25 each for publicatios with a circulatio of less tha 49,999. Category Oe has o etry fee.
