2 RPM, GPS and CAN traces available in the online strip Beside of ADC channels (including HS and HMS), the RPM, GPS and CAN signals are now available in the online strip display. Rename the recording while scoping The recordings can be now renamed while in scope mode by tapping on the name in the top left corner. 3 Step 3: Confirm the new name Zoom in analysis Strip display You can easily zooming in/out inside the upper strip in order to focus on a specific range of the time/frequency data. Two-finger zoom in/out Beside of the zooming, you can shift the trace along the axes. Tap inside the strip and move along axes 3

4 Replay cursor in post-recording view LMS Smart Scope 3 provides quick access to the sound replay functionality from the postrecording view. While replaying, the cursor position in the display is coupled with the replay progress position on the bar. Measurement annotation The latest version of the app gives to the user the possibility to add comments to the measurement runs. The annotation will be available in LMS Test.Lab or LMS Test.Xpress software after importing the measurement file. Adding a comment can be done in two ways: Post-recording view: add annotation immediately after the acquisition ends 4

5 Recordings list: add annotations to any measurement stored on the SD card The comment can be entered in an edit box which shows up after tapping on RUN COMMENT. 5

6 Hysteresis trigger The hysteresis value can be used for Start and/or Stop triggers. In case of ADC channels, a default value of 10% of the channel input range is used as hysteresis and in case of RPM channels a value of 100 RPM. These default values can be changed by the user. 6

7 OBD-II support LMS Smart Scope 3 offers support for OBD-II measurement setups. The OBD-II setup can be created using LMS Test.Lab or LMS Test.Xpress software, but also directly in LMS Smart Scope 3 app. A predefined database with up to 10 channels (signals) can be configured for OBD-II measurements. The correct baud rate for the CAN bus data transmission should be selected in the setup. The baud rate is vehicle dependent. 7

In order to not endanger your safety or the safety of others in the work area, and to avoid damages to the vehicle or equipment being tested, it is essential to use proper service methods and test procedures and to perform tests in an appropriate and acceptable manner. Therefore we recommend that in first instance the operator performs the tests on a vehicle in stationary mode and/or in a controlled environment. It is assumed the operator has a thorough understanding of vehicle systems and more in particular of diagnostic tools before using this test instrument in combination with a diagnostic tool, as it is necessary for competent, safe and accurate use of both the diagnostic tool and this test instrument. Before using this test instrument in combination with a diagnostic tool, always refer to and follow safety messages and applicable test procedures provided by the manufacturer of the vehicle or equipment being tested. Use the test equipment only as described in this manual. Don t connect or disconnect any test equipment while the ignition is on or the engine is running, as it may damage test equipment and the vehicle's electronic components. Never attempt to operate this software and drive the vehicle yourself at the same time. Always have another person to use the software while the vehicle is being driven. Do not leave the vehicle unattended while running tests. Please bring this Safety Warning to the attention of any other person to which you distribute test set-ups and/or test equipment (such as test projects, test templates, recorder templates) containing OBD2 configurations. 8

9 CAN channel visualization LMS Smart Scope 3 improves the functionality of the CAN channel visualization. You can select now which CAN channels (signals on CAN bus) to be monitored in the displays of the app. The selection is done at CAN message level: all signals which are part of the selected message will be available for visualization. The other CAN signals which are enabled in the configuration will be recorded, but not visible in the displays. In case of standard CAN, a maximum number of 30 signals can be enabled for visualization and in case of OBD-II a maximum number of 10 signals. 9
