The Bookworm Club for children ages 8-12 Wednesday, September 2 nd at 4 p.m. We will be discussing the book, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg. Claudia and her brother, Jamie, decide to run away to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and find themselves caught up in the mystery of an angel statue that the museum purchased at auction for a bargain price. The statue is possibly an early work of the Renaissance master, Michelangelo, and therefore worth millions. Or is it? Claudia is determined to find out. Her quest leads her to Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, the remarkable old woman who sold the statue, and to some equally remarkable discoveries about herself. Register beginning August 1 st at the children s desk, on our website, or by calling the children s department at TOTS & TALES Babies from 0-36 months with an adult are invited to come for stories, music and Beebo, the sign language bear. Choose Tuesdays from 9:30-9:50 a.m. or 11:00-11:20 a.m. FEED ME A STORY Children ages 3-5 with an adult will enjoy stories, rhymes, songs, and other age-appropriate activities. Choose Wednesdays from 11:00-11:30 a.m., or Thursdays from 1:00-1:30 p.m. SCHOOL AGE STORY TIME Children in grades K-5 will read books, have fun activities, play games and create crafts. Thursdays from 6:00-6:45 p.m. Special Monthly Story Times FAMILY STORY TIME Families with children of all ages are welcome to come for stories, songs, and fun! Feel free to wear your pajamas! Second Monday of each month from 6:30 7:15 p.m. September 14 th, October 12 th, November 9th. SENSORY STORY TIME Join us for a story time designed for children of all ages with differing abilities, their siblings, parents and caregivers. 4 TEEN August 2015 Teen Club August 2015 Teen Summer Reading Club: Thank you to all who par cipated in this year s summer reading club! We had a busy and fun summer this year, with 15 programs scheduled! Here are some stats: We had 70 teens sign up for the reading club. We had 190 in total program a endance (teen & tween programs). We had 617 total book entry slips. (Great job everyone!) The grand prize winners were: Congratula ons! Tablet = Taylor W. Amazon Gi card = Gerald R. Barnes & Noble Gi card = Julia M. Gi Bag #1 = Jamie G. Gi Bag #2 = Heidi S. Gi Bag #3 = Christopher R. The Tablet, Amazon gi card, and Barnes & Noble gi card were made possible by an anonymous dona on! The Teens and I wish to Thank you! Fall Program Changes/Line up: There are several things going on this fall in the Teen department! TAB events will now be under the heading, Teen Club, and we will con nue to have special monthly programs. The fall Teen Club programs include Origami, Halloween Masks, and a Re do of one of the other programs we ve done in the past! There will be me changes for some programs, so keep an eye out for that! I am working on bringing in an Author to talk to our Teen Wri ng Club in September! I will be doing some tween programs this fall, so keep your eyes open for those dates! In addi on to our regular programs, such as Xbox, Pokémon Club, Board Game Tuesdays, and Wri ng Club, we will be adding a Teen Book Club! We will also be having our Teen Talk program back for a series in September! For more details about these new programs, take a look at the next page... 4

5 TEEN August 2015 Teen Club August 2015 Teen Talk series: Mark Your Calendars We will be having our favorite Life Coach, Chris Tacke, back for a series of Teen Talk programs in September! We are excited to have her back to impart her wisdom and help on important issues that you face! The programs are tenta vely scheduled for: Wednesday, September 2nd from 6:00 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 9th from 6:00 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 16th from 6:00 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 23rd from 6:00 7:00 PM Teen Book Club: This fall, we are launching a Teen Book Club!! The first book club mee ng is tenta vely scheduled for Monday, September 28th from 4:00 5:00 PM. For the first one, simply bring in your favorite book that you re reading now! We will each take turns talking about our book. Who knows, you might even find a new book to read! At the end of the first mee ng, we will decide which book to read for the October discussion! I would like this to be a Teen led program, so if there is a book that you d like us to read, and you are willing to lead the discussion, let me know! 6 ADULT PROGRAMMING Adult August 2015 Databases: Does Back to school means back to homework time? We have the goods to help you with those tricky assignments. Looking for that long lost relative? Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest can help you along that path. Many of our databases can be accessed from your home computer with your library card number. Stop by the Reference Desk to pick up a brochure. Find me a good book Running out of authors to read? The library can help with that. From our webpage, click on the books tab and then select Need a Recommenda on. This will take you to a form to fill out your likes and dislikes. We will then you a list of suggested authors and tles. For more informa on please stop by the Reference Desk. Looking for your favorite new movies? Stop by and pick up a request form at the Browsing DVD display to request the latest releases, It s easy all you need is your library card number. We are also starting to order some Blu-Ray titles. The list changes every month! 50 Book Challenge Can you read 50 books in one year? There is s ll plenty of me to par cipate! Take the 50 book challenge and find out! From January 1 to December 31, 2015 keep track of all the books you read or listen to, (e books count as well) and you could be a winner. It s easy, just stop by the Reference Desk to sign up and pick up your booklet. Book Discussion for August Book Discussion for August 6:30 P.M. is Sister by Rosamund Lupto. Young people ages 9 through 12 are invited to join The NEW Junior Friends of the Canal Fulton Library! The Junior Friends support and promote the library through their programs & activities. Meetings will be held the 3rd Wednesday of every other month in the Toddler s Room of the library at 4:00 p.m. beginning September 16th. No library materials checked out from the Canal Fulton Public Library are due on any day that the library is closed. 8
