1 Look At How Far We ve Come In 1878 opened a Free Reading Room and Library Association on the corner of Main and Library Streets. The Library opened with 133 books, pamphlets, periodicals and newspapers. Monday Thursday 11 AM 9 PM Friday 12 PM 5 PM Saturday Closed for the Summer The Library is Closed on Sundays The Library is closed Saturdays In July and August ~ Circulation Desk ext. 210 or 211 Reference Desk ext. 206 Children's Desk ext. 204 Teen and Youth Services ext. 209 Administration ext. 203 September of 2009 the library opened at it s current location on Marsha Ave. This new location provided plenty of room to grow and it sure has been put to good use. Every year the library puts thousands of new books on its shelves along with new DVDs and CDs. Three large meeting rooms, and a special Story room for children, allow for a variety of programs for all ages including book clubs, movie showings, arts and crafts groups, and musical performances. An up to date computer lab enables the library to offer free computer classes to the community. A beautiful garden is an added bonus that all are welcome to enjoy. In November of 1974 the library moved to a new home at 306 South Main Street. Now the Library had over twelve thousand titles and almost five thousand patrons. At the time the 5400 foot building provided plenty of room for the library to grow. And grow it did! By June of 2009 the library had out grown this Main Street home with books stacked on top of each other and carts to help hold the books overflowing from the shelves it was time for another move. Now seven years in, much of the staff and many patrons still refer to this as The New Library. In a way, it will always be a new library, always changing, always growing, always adding new materials and gaining new patrons. Still, it was bitter sweet watching the Main Street location being torn down. It served us well for many years. The library has so much to offer it just out grew the building. Like the library, the town is growing too. Hopefully, in the near future, we will see the old location put to good use.

August 39th, 7:00PM The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Olympics by Daniel James Brown It was an unlikely quest from the start. With a team composed of the sons of loggers, shipyard workers, and farmers, the University of Washington s eight-oar crew team was never expected to defeat the elite teams of the East Coast and Great Britain, yet they did, going on to shock the world by defeating the German team rowing for Adolf Hitler. The emotional heart of the tale lies with Joe Rantz, a teenager without family or prospects, who rows not only to regain his shattered selfregard but also to find a real place for himself in the world.
