1 59 years of excellence in community theatre A Child s Christmas in Wales BASED ON THE STORY BY DYLAN THOMAS Adapted to the stage by Jeremy Brooks and Adrian Mitchell Directed by Moira Nikander-Forrester December 2-18, 2010 Pinnacle Playhouse Belleville, Ontario

Whenever my family would travel somewhere in the car we would sing. We sang long songs, A Capital Ship for an Ocean Trip, or, My Grandfather s Clock, always songs with many verses. We had hundreds of songs we could sing by heart and in harmony. I realize now those car trips were Ceilidhs. And now I ve met Dylan Thomas s family. They sing at the drop of a hat. They sing to entertain each other and to enjoy themselves. I recognize this family and how they think and how they interact. This family uses words and songs to express their joy in communicating and being together. All of this was, of course, before we shut ourselves off from each other with MP3 players, walkmen, earbits. When children needed each other to pretend with instead of their Xboxes and Playstations 3. It is a bit painful that this way of life is just a memory for most and for the young a strange, unbelievable way of life surely an invention of the author. It is not. It happened. Just this way. We are happy to offer this real and wonderful time back to you for this evening. Merry Christmas, Moira

5 Catering Private Parties Chef Sam Cashin Notice to Our Patrons Announcing a Change to the Season The Belleville Theatre Guild is pleased to announce the inclusion of Doubt, A Parable by John Patrick Shanley as our third production this season. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to secure the rights to our original choice, Michel Tremblay s For the Pleasure Of Seeing Her Again. However, we feel confident that you will be more than pleased with the alternative a tight, absorbing drama under the expert direction of Liz Marshall. When Sister Aloysius, a school principal, suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with a male student, she takes matters into her own hands. Her pursuit of the truth not only puts her in conflict with the priest, but also with both the boy's teacher a young, idealistic nun and the boy's mother, struggling to get her child out of a poverty-stricken environment. Expect a fast-paced ninety minutes involving you in the lives of four passionate people and the unexpected consequences of what Sister Aloysius sets in motion. Winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award in 2005, the play is both gripping and thought-provoking. Please join us for Doubt, A Parable which runs from February 3rd to February19th.
