1 EXCELLENT COMMUNITY THEATRE SEASON Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
2 THE CAST In order of appearance ROLE ACTOR Agnes Kodie Trahan-Guay Theresa Kayla Alexandropoulos Louise Kelsey Collins Voice of Justin Robert Lloyd Voice of Kara Esther Parry Hymn Be Not Afraid performed by Moira Nikander-Forrester Setting: All of the action takes place in the kitchen of the family home, with the exception of the final scene which is set on the bank of a river. Special Note: MARION BRIDGE is The Belleville Theatre Guild s entry in the Eastern Ontario Drama League s Full-Length Play Festival this spring. The travelling adjudicator will be here on Saturday, February 10, to evaluate and discuss our production. The audience may observe but not participate in this conversation. There will be one 15-minute intermission. BIOGRAPHIES Roli Tipper (Producer) In 1972 I was asked to play saxophone on a background tape for Sarah and the Sax. My reward was a comp ticket to see the show. But the real reward was introducing me to live theatre and a lifetime of involvement, on stage. With Marion Bridge I have taken my first step, as Producer, to work behind the scenes. And it has been a wonderful and humbling learning experience. Kudos to all those folks you never see who truly make things happen in the theatre. Steve Forrester (Director) Steve Forrester was first cast in a play at the BTG in He has been active here for the last forty-five years as actor, director and in a variety of other roles. During this time he has come to understand why this place is called a PLAYhouse. Esther Parry (Stage Manager) Esther Parry can t remember when she wasn t involved with the Belleville Theatre Guild, with responsibilities that have included stage managing, acting and directing. She is thrilled to join Steve Forrester in this wonderful journey with such talented people both onstage and backstage. Kodie Trahan-Guay has previously been involved with The Belleville Theatre Guild in their production of The Importance of Being Earnest where she was the understudy for Gwendolyn and Cecily. Kayla Alexandropoulos A Theatre Studies graduate from the University of Guelph, this is Kayla s second performance with the BTG, having previously performed as Mrs. Webb in Our Town. Kelsey Collins This is Kelsey s theatrical debut! Taking on the role of Louise, Kelsey is eager to engage the audience through her passion for theatre. She would like to thank her family for their support. She will be out there auditioning for many more BTG productions. Marion Bridge from the director: Daniel MacIvor has used the name Marion Bridge not only as a setting but as a metaphor for the crossing the three sisters must make from a dysfunctional past to a hopeful future. I have enjoyed watching the bridge that the three actors have crossed as they have grown into an understanding of their roles. This has also been complemented by one of the best production teams I have had the pleasure to work with. Steve Forrester

12 OUR SEASON subscribe and save 5 plays for $80 visit our site for more information bellevilletheatreguild.ca OUR TOWN OCT 12-28, 2017 by Thornton Wilder. Directed by Ian Feltham Children are born, they grow up, fall in love, have families, grow old, and then die. This is a true, if simplified, arc of a human life. Wilder s play gently opens the scrapbook of several lives in small town New Hampshire at the beginning of the 20th Century. He weaves their joys and sorrows into a magical and unforgettable tale of all humanity for which he won the Pulitzer Prize. Every theatre has staged it, as have we, but it never loses its power. Time to go back to Grover s Corners. NOISES OFF NOV 30 - DEC 16, 2017 by Michael Frayn. Directed by Dave Henderson It has been called the greatest farce ever written about the theatre. People remember laughing uncontrollably and can still quote lines and recall incidents in detail. Frayn sticks it to all of us who, taking ourselves too seriously... flub lines, miss cues, pamper egos, indulge romantic fantasies, battle cast- mates and otherwise behave badly. This brilliant play-within-a-play makes it impossible, ever again, to think of sardines as just food. MARION BRIDGE FEB 1-17, 2018 by Daniel MacIvor. Directed by Steve Forrester After years away, Agnes, an under-employed and alcoholic actress comes home to Nova Scotia to be with her dying mother along with her two sisters, Theresa, a nun, and Louise, a social misfit. While there, they must face the failed relationships between them, the broken nature of their parents union and the impact of their own unfortunate choices. But there s also humour and hope here as the three sisters find reunion and regeneration at the site of what was once to be their childhood Wonderland - Marion Bridge. THE CURIOUS SAVAGE APR 5-21, 2018 by John Patrick. Directed by Kathryn Dalmer We have found a forgotten gem! This gentle and whimsical story seems to have even more meaning in these days of 50 million dollar lotteries and greed gone wild. When Mrs. Savage finds herself committed to an institution by her grasping step-children so they can access her immense fortune, she also finds herself among most curious company... an asylum of the wise and pure of spirit, even if they have difficulty dealing with the real world. ANNIE GET YOUR GUN MAY 31 - JUNE 17, 2018 Music and lyrics by Irving Berlin. Book by Dorothy and Herbert Fields. Directed by Moira Nikander-Forrester. The show biz anthem There s No Bus ness Like Show Bus ness thunders throughout Irving Berlin s musical comedy Annie Get Your Gun. The story follows the life of backwoods gal Annie Oakley, whose amazing feats with a rifle made her a national celebrity in Buffalo Bill Cody s Wild West Show. Her romance and rivalry with fellow sharpshooter and star Frank Butler give rise to many hilarious tunes You Can t Get a Man with a Gun, Anything You Can Do, and Doin What Comes Natur lly. The production is pure entertainment.
