2 A NOTE FROM Kristen Chesak managing Director Kicking-off our 83rd Season at the Civic! T his is the time of year when we all turn our thoughts to fall harvests, football games, school starting again and all of the great activities that we enjoy here in Kalamazoo as the leaves change color. Here at the Civic, we re gearing up for another great season of terrific productions, exciting educational opportunities and fun-filled special events. As your community theatre, we re unique from other local arts organizations in that we offer so many life enriching volunteer experiences as well as a wide assortment of theatrical offerings. Our classes offer students and adults substantive learning opportunities in the areas of performance and technical theatre. And to top it off, whether you re seeing a show or taking a class, the Civic is one of the best deals in town! We are also unique because we rely on members of our community to provide the time, talent and treasure needed to produce great theatre. Where else in Kalamazoo can a nurse, secretary, lawyer and financial planner all come together to create art? The talented actors you see on stage and the hard working crew members that make magic happen behind the scenes might be your neighbor, doctor, banking teller, mother so many reasons FOR YOU To BEcomE a part of THE CIVIC Your community ThEaTrE! or your student. How fortunate we are, to have in Kalamazoo, the facilities and professional staff to support these artistic endeavors. We would not be the vibrant community we are without these enriching opportunities. We can take pride in the fact that we are a caring and compassionate community that cares for the physical and mental well being of our friends, neighbors and associates. I am constantly impressed by the great generosity shown in the feeding of our hungry, and assisting those in need. I think you will agree that we are also a community that values common experiences and the feeding of souls through artistic expression. Our volunteers, Board of Directors, and staff are looking forward to opening our 83rd season on September 16th with the vivacious musical All Shook Up. Set to the music made famous by Elvis Presley, this is going to be a wonderful time for the family to come down and celebrate the start of another fantastic year of opportunities at the Civic, your community theatre.
