Ph: STAGE VOICE Teen Theatre Participants in this year's drama camp performed "The Silver Whistle" under the direction of OSU student Kelcey Martin with Derrick Miller, a DLT Board member, as producer. With a lot of work under their belts, Teen Theatre ended its three-week workshop with a performance July 23 at the Simmons Center. Guest director Kelcey Martin brought a great production to the stage for the benefit of family and friends of the twenty area teens who participated. Producer Derrick stressed over many of the little and big details but credited Kelcey Martin with doing a fantastic job of working with the teens and getting them performance ready. Attendance was up this year with 8 students from last year being joined by 12 new teens. As an added note, Derrick mentioned that an older man came up to him before the performance and asked him how the play was chosen. Derrick told him the director, Kelcey Martin, chose the play, and the gentleman expressed excitement about the show. He said he had read the play when he was a drama student nearly 80 years ago. Derrick Miller, Producer Teen Theatre and all DLT shows are made possible thanks to the generous support of the following grantors. DLT is very grateful for their continuing support.!1

Cast and crew did a fabulous job and even though DLT's play did not win, all who participated were glad they had gone to Stillwater. So proud of all our volunteers. Gina definitely deserved the honor of being named Volunteer of the Year. DLT is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization so all donations are tax deductible.!2

This means that the two shows that DLT will be oﬀering this fall, will not be part of our season tickets. Those who attend "Someone Save My Baby Ruth" and "Dashing Through the Snow" will have to pay regular admission prices. Season tickets for 2017 will be on sale during the December show and will cover all five shows oﬀered in 2017 from January through to December. First show of the new season will be the February 2017 musical "Into the Woods". Admission Fees "Someone Save My Baby Ruth" 7:30 p.m. Simmons Center Theater "Winnie the Pooh" Children's Theater Experience Veronica Hodgson, Guest Director October 7th, 7:00 p.m. Hodgson's Studio AUDITIONS: Auditions will be held for DLT s Winnie the Pooh Kids on Saturday, September 10th from 10am-12pm and Monday, September 12th at 7pm at Hodgson s Studio at 814 W. Walnut. Participating children should be in 4th-10th grades and should come prepared to sing a song. If possible, please bring accompaniment on CD, phone or tablet. Performances will held October 7th and 8th. This show will be performed at elementary schools in Stephens County during the months of Oct, Nov and December as requested by school principals. DLT owes a debt of gratitude to the grantors listed here who allocated grant funds for our Costume Shoppe renovation. DLT's Main Street office and costume center is now a much more usable space, and the bank loan originally taken out to complete the overhaul has been paid off as planned within the year. DLT would like to thank all of our supporters for their monetary help in realizing this renovation. Why am I reporting the above newscast to DLT enthusiasts? Because today's DLT owes its very existence to Dr. Bill and Melinda Corporon. Read on. Dr. Bill and Melinda Corporon rejuvenated the spirt of theater arts in Duncan.

Over the years, Bill directed and Melinda produced over 25 shows, as well as acted and worked behind the scenes of many other productions.

As it turns out, this grandfather wasn t even Jewish he was Christian. He happened to be at a local Jewish Community Center because he was taking his grandson to a talent competition. Reat Griffin Underwood Losen, age 14, was a Blue Valley High School freshman and a talented singer who also participated in theater, debate and Eagle Scouts. Why am I reporting the above newscast to DLT enthusiasts? Because today's DLT owes its very existence to Dr. Bill and Melinda Corporon. Read on. Dr. Bill and Melinda Corporon rejuvenated the spirt of theater arts in Duncan. In 1981 they re-incorporated Duncan Little Theatre and were active until they left our area in Over the years, Bill directed and Melinda produced over 25 shows, as well as acted and worked behind the scenes of many other productions. Melinda served on the board during those years, wrote grants, made costumes, and put her own furniture on the stage when needed. Bill wrote and directed Duncan s Centennial celebration, an outdoor drama about the city s history with over 75 actors/wagons/horses and performed at Halliburton stadium. Many patients of Dr. Corporon were recruited as actors, church friends became season ticket holders and many a wonderful cast party was held at their Marlow home. They influenced everyone in our community with their love of the arts. In 1993 they were responsible for the purchase and financing of DLT s building on Main St. Previously owned by Nelson and Patsy Garner, the property was partially donated to DLT as the Garners were long-time theatre patrons. The board supported the purchase because of the Corporon s support. Until then we were vagabonds, renting spaces and often having to move every six months even once over a weekend. Bill and Melinda received Oklahoma s Governor s Arts Award in 2002 for their work. Most of all, The Corporons creativity and persistence inspired the community of Duncan and kept alive theatre arts in our city. In honor of Dr. Bill and his grandson, Reat, the Corporon family established an organization called Faith Always Wins so that something positive might arise from the senseless tragedy that claimed the lives of two very talented people. DLT was notified by Melinda Corporon of the organization's mission and goals, and encouraged to apply, as DLT had been such a big part of Dr. Corporon's life from 1981 through to 2002 when he retired and moved to Kansas. DLT's grant request met with a very favorable response from the grantors in charge of the Faith Always Wins organization. Through the generosity of this wonderful organization, DLT was able to pay off the balance owed on our renovation loan. Words fail to express the gratitude DLT feels over retirement of this debt load within just one year of initiating the renovation of the Main Street Costume shop. A plaque will be permanently mounted on the exterior of the Costume Shoppe in October with a special presentation in November in recognition of Dr. Bill and his grandson, Reat.
