3 Dear Friends Welcome to the thrilling new 2014/15 season of Chamber Music Houston! This season starts with a new name and a beautiful new logo. Houston Friends of Chamber Music becomes Chamber Music Houston and introduces a new look conveying the excitement, intimacy and energy presented by its concert experience. Nine of the world s most celebrated chamber music ensembles will come to Houston for a full season of engaging performances inside the acoustically perfect Stude Concert Hall, on the Rice University campus series Chamber Music Houston has exciting debuts: the virtuosic Kavafian-Shifrin- Schub Clarinet Trio and a stunning group of the new generation, Modigliani Quartet. Among the audience s favorites who return this season are the Emerson String Quartet and the inimitable Canadian Brass. This year, you will experience increased interaction with the performers, during informal meet and chat conversations after each concert, and also when these enthusiastic musicians share their insights from the stage. The 2014/15 series opens with the Houston Premiere of famous American composer Gunther Schuller s Quartet No.5, an innovative jazz-inspired work. Throughout the season, you will appreciate a thrilling repertoire of beloved classics, entertaining and dance-inspired works, rarely performed masterpieces, and exciting new works. The new Chamber Music Houston season resonates with impressive programming from Cantus, Canadian Brass, the Miró, Jupiter, Jerusalem, Modigliani and Emerson String Quartets, the Kavafian-Shifrin-Schub Clarinet Trio, as well as the Vienna Piano Trio. It is an eclectic mix that proves that chamber music is always evolving and presents us with rich, thrilling experiences. New season. New name.
