2 Intrductin The SpectraCal VideFrge PRO test pattern generatr can be autmatically cntrlled by the CalMAN Display Calibratin Sftware t prduce measurement and calibratin test patterns via HDMI fr SDR and HDR displays at reslutins frm 640x480 up t 3840x2160. Install the FTDI driver befre yu cnnect the VideFrge PRO t yur cmputer. The FTDI driver is available: As part f the CalMAN Device Driver Pack ( r Frm the FTDI web site ( When the driver is prperly installed, the Muride will be listed in Device Manager under Prts (COM & LPT) as "USB Serial Prt 2

3 CalMAN Cnnectin t VideFrge PRO (COMx)." If it is nt listed that way, the driver is nt yet prperly installed. 2. Cnnect the VideFrge PRO t the CalMAN cmputer with a USB cable. 1. When the VideFrge PRO is prperly cnnected t the cmputer, launch CalMAN. CalMAN will autmatically cnnect t the VideFrge PRO. 2. If the VideFrge PRO is plugged int the CalMAN cmputer after CalMAN is pen, it can be cnnected by clicking the Find Surce buttn n the CalMAN Surce Settings tab. a. On the CalMAN wrkflw Hardware Cnnect page, r n the CalMAN Surce Settings tab, click Find Surce, b. On the Find Surce dialg (Figure 1), select SpectraCal - VideFrge PRO. c. Select the Cm Prt that yu saw listed in Windws Device Manager, USB Serial Prt (COMx). d. Click Cnnect n the Find Surce dialg. Figure 1. 4 CalMAN Surce Settings Optins When the VideFrge PRO is cnnected as a CalMAN test pattern surce, the fllwing Settings ptins n the CalMAN Surce Settings tab (Figure 2), shuld be set accrding t the type f display being measured r calibrated. Refer t specific display mdel infrmatin t guide these settings n the Surce Settings tab. Clr Frmat: RGB Full 8-bit (The patterns are actually 4:2:2 YCbCr 12-bit. Dlby Visin tunnels the YCbCr 12-bit patterns thrugh the RGB 8-bit signal path.) 7

8 HDR: Dlby Visin Dlby Visin Mde: Perceptual - T be selected when using the Dlby Visin wrkflw (nt t be used with the Dlby Visin Custm wrkflw). Relative - T be used with the Dlby Visin Custm wrkflw, t perfrm the Metered Calibratin steps. Abslute T be used with the Dlby Visin Custm wrkflw, t perfrm the Pst Calibratin steps. Specialty Patterns: In Dlby Visin mde, the VideFrge PRO specialty patterns display t the TV screen, but they are SDR, nt Dlby Visin HDR. 8
