Place r hang the TV wherever yu want, but make sure that air can circulate freely thrugh the ventilatin slts. D nt install the TV in a cnfined space such as a bk case r a similar unit. T prevent any unsafe situatins, n naked flame surces, such as lighted candles, shuld be placed in the vicinity. Avid heat, direct sunlight and expsure t rain r water. The equipment shall nt be expsed t dripping r splashing. Care f the screen D nt tuch, push r rub r strike the screen with anything hard as this may scratch, mar r damage the screen permanently. And please d nt rub with dust clthes with chemical treatment. D nt tuch the surface with bare hands r greasy clth (sme csmetics are detrimental t the screen). Unplug the TV befre cleaning the screen. When the surface becmes dusty, please wipe gently with absrbent cttn r ther sft materials like chamis saks. D nt use acetne, tluene and alchl because they cause chemical damage. D nt use liquid cleaners r aersl cleaners.wipe ff saliva r water drps as sn as pssible.their lng time cntact with the screen causes defrmatins and clur fading. Statinary images n the TV screen A characteristic f LCD and Plasma Panels is that displaying the same image fr a lng time can cause a permanent after-image t remain n the screen. Nrmal use f the TV shuld invlve the shwing f pictures that cntain cnstantly mving and changing images that fill the screen. Examples f statinary images (this is nt an allinclusive list, yu may encunter thers in yur viewing): TV and DVD menus: listings f DVD disk cntent; Black bars: when black bars appear at the left and right side f the screen, it is recmmended t change t a picture frmat s that the picture fills the entire screen; TV channel lg: present a prblem if they are bright and statinary. Mving r lw-cntrast graphics are less likely t cause uneven aging f the screen; Stck market stickers: presented at the bttm f the TV screen; Shpping channel lgs and pricing displays: bright and shwn cnstantly r repeatedly in the same lcatin n the TV screen. Examples f still pictures als include lgs, cmputer images, time display, teletext and images displayed in 4:3 mde, static images r characters, etc. Tip:reduce cntrast and brightness when viewing. Carefully pay attentin t these remarks. The warranty des nt apply t damage caused by nt taking int accunt the abve mentined warnings n statinary images. Althugh it has effective pixels f 99,999% r mre, black dts r bright pints f light (red, green r blue) may appear cnstantly n the screen.this is a structural prperty f the display (within cmmn industry standards) and is nt a malfunctin. 2

Cnnect the antenna < Insert the aerial plug firmly int the aerial scket x at the bttm f the TV. Tip:fr best quality use the suppressr cable supplied. Cnnect the mains < Insert the mains crd supplied int the mains at the bttm f the TV and in the wall scket. Warning:verify that the mains supply vltage crrespnds t the vltage printed n the sticker at the rear f the TV. Remte cntrl < Insert the 2 batteries supplied (Type R6-1,5V). Be sure the (+) and (-) ends f the batteries line up crrectly (inside f case is marked.) Fr mst keys pressing a key nce will activate the functin. Pressing a secnd time will de-activate it. 4

Attentin: the TV is never pwered ff cmpletely unless it is physically unplugged. TV Press t select TV mde. DVD STB VCR AUX Press t select ne f the system mdes in which the remte cntrl can be used. See Audi and Vide equipment keys, p. 49. a DEMO Press t switch the Dem menu n r ff. Clur keys - When functins are attached t the clur keys, the clur keys are shwn n screen. -T select a page in Teletext mde. OPTION -T pen and clse the Quick access menu which cntains a few frequently used ptins, like Picture frmat. - When in teletext, press repeatedly t enlarge the teletext page display. See Teletext, p. 37. an functin. Cursr keys Press the cursr keys up/dwn, left/right t navigate thrugh the menus. OK - T activate a setting; - Starts playing cntent in the Multimedia Brwser applicatin. v BROWSE/MU: T pen and clse the main menu. See Hw t navigate thrugh the menus, p. 12. bteletext On/Off V Vlume Press + r - t adjust the vlume. Mute key: interrupt the sund r restre it. 5

Nte: when the TV is switched t standby, and yu switch Ambilight On,Ambilight will be active. Only then less mdes are available. PIP allws yu t call up a subscreen within the main screen enabling yu t watch tw TV channels r a TV channel and pictures frm a peripheral at the same time. Dual screen allws yu t divide the main screen int tw subscreens enabling tw TV channels r a TV channel and an external surce r a cmbinatin f ne f them with Teletext (see p. 37) t be watched simultaneusly. a Nte: nt all cmbinatins might be pssible. In such a case a message appears n the screen. 1. Press the cursr left/right t highlight the PIP windw r the left/right screen in Dual screen 2. Press the -P+ key r the AV v key r the digit keys in rder t change TV channels, external surces r teletext pages in the highlighted screen. Nte: n screen infrmatin, which appears when changing channels, always refers t the highlighted screen. 3. Press the b key again t return t a full main screen picture.the TV tunes t the picture which was highlighted in the Dual screen r PIP mde. v Ntes: - Audi nly plays frm the main, when PIP has been selected, r frm the left screen, when Dual screen has been selected. - When in Dual screen, tw display frmats are supprted: full screen r squeezed. Multimedia brwser cntent will always be displayed full screen. - When PIP r Dual screen mde is activated, and a TV channel r surce is lcked, the picture is grayed ut. - Prgrammes via a decder/descrambler can nt be reprduced in the right picture. Define the psitin f the PIP screen 1. Press the cursr right t highlight the PIP screen. 2. Press the red clur key n the remte cntrl t select Psitin. Nte: if n actin has been undertaken, the functin bar at the bttm f the screen will disappear after a few secnds. Press any clur key t make it re-appear. 3. Use the cursr keys t define the psitin f the PIP screen. FAV T display the channels list. Yu can create up t fur favurite lists. 7

8 :26 Pagina 8 Use f the OPTION key The OPTION key allws yu t display the Quick access menu which will give yu direct access t sme features and menu ptins. 1. Press the OPTION key. > The Quick access menu appears. 2. Press the cursr up/dwn t select a menu item. 3. Press the OK key t jump t the selected menu item in the. (Except fr the Clck ptin). 4. Keys at the right side f the TV In case yur remte is lst r brken, apart frm channel selectin and vlume adjustment, yu can still change sme f the basic settings with the keys at the right side f yur TV. < Press the pwer switch B t switch the TV n r ff. Nte: the first time (and nly the first time) yu switch n yur TV, yu see a Welcme screen fllwed by the installatin prcedure. See First time installatin, p. 10. First time installatin The installatin prcedure cnsists f a series f screens that will guide yu thrugh the installatin f yur TV. Fllw the instructins n screen. Nte: if the TV has already been installed befre and/r yu want t change the First time installatin settings, prceed with Use f the settings, p

10 :26 Pagina 10 First time installatin (Cntinued) Step 1: select yur n-screen language After the Welcme screen yu are asked t select a language f the TV's n-screen menus.the text f the header and the inf n screen cntinuusly change language. 1. Press the cursr up/dwn t highlight yur language. 2. Press the OK key n the remte cntrl. 3. Fllw the instructins n screen t prceed. a Please select yur language... PHILIPS using cursr up and dwn Next Menu language English Français Simpl.chinese Arabic... Step 2: cmplete the initial TV installatin prcedure 1. Press the green clur key n yur remte cntrl when Televisin is highlighted. 2. Press the green clur key n yur remte cntrl t start the Autmatic channel installatin. > All available TV channels are searched fr and stred autmatically.this will take a few minutes. Nte: if yu chse t install the channels at a later time, select the Autmatic installatin in the, Installatin, Channels, p.26, t scan available channels. 3. Press the red clur key again when the search is cmpleted. Press the green clur key n yur remte cntrl t enter the Settings assistant menu. 2. Select yur Lcatin with the cursr up/dwn. > If yu chse Shp it will skip the Settings assistant. The TV parameters fr picture, sund and ambilight will then be set t predefined fixed settings. Press the green clur key again t prceed. > If yu chse Hme it will display the Settings assistant. 3. Use the cursr left/right t each time select yur preferred screen. 4. Press the green clur key t each time cnfirm yur selectin and t jump t the fllwing screen. > The fllwing items will be presented sequentially. In the header it is mentined hw many screens have been cmpleted and hw many screens there are in ttal. The Settings assistant will step sequentially thrugh the settings f picture, sund and ambilight. 5. Press the green clur key again t stre all the settings and t return t the TV installatin menu. Nte: when yu skip r stp the Settings Assistant, then the standard settings Philips selected fr yu will be chsen. 6. Press the green clur key again t finish the First time installatin prcedure and t display the first stred TV channel. Nte:any time yu can change r reset yur settings r adjust individual settings fr picture, sund and ambilight in the TV settings menu. See p. 13, Use f the settings. Read the help texts which are being displayed n the specific item highlighted. The clur keys at the bttm f the screen refer t the different actins which may be executed. Press the crrespnding clur key n the remte cntrl t perfrm the required r desired actin. 1. Press the MU/BROWSE key n the remte cntrl. > The main menu appears n the screen. - allws yu t access the. See belw. - TV channels allws yu t access the TV channel list and t create up t fur favurite lists with yur preferred TV channels. See Create yur favurite channel list, p Multimedia allws yu t access the Multimedia brwser applicatin. It lets yu display yur persnal multimedia files. Multimedia is nly present when a USB is cnnected. See Multimedia brwser, p Use the cursr up/dwn t highlight and select a menu item. 3. Press the cursr right t enter the highlighted menu item. > The cntent f the right panel is mved t the left panel and the right panel nw shws the cntent f the newly highlighted item in the left panel. Nte: in sme cases it is imprtant that the picture can be watched while yu adjust the settings.this means that when the highlight is n the right side panel, the ther menu items hide away.when the cursr left is pressed, the hidden menu items reappear and the highlight mves t the left panel. 6. Press the MU/BROWSE key t exit the main menu. Use f the settings Televisin Multimedia TV channels The allws yu t access and change settings and preferences in case yu want t change the First time installatin settings and/r yu want t cntrl the settings f special TV functins, features and peripheral equipment. T make it easier t change the settings f the TV, there are 3 ways f ding it. See next pages. 13

Change settings in an easy-t-use manner with the Settings assistant. Each time yu've made a selectin, press the green key t cnfirm yur selectin. 1. Select Settings assistant and press the cursr right. > By means f several split screens/full screens yu are prmpted t select yur preferred picture, sund and ambilight settings t finally arrive at a cmplete setting which satisfies yu. See First time installatin, Step 3: Settings assistant: select yur TV settings, p Press the green clur key t return t the again. Use f the Standards settings (if present) This allws yu t reset yur settings fr viewing and listening t predefined factry settings. 1. Select Reset t standard and press the cursr right. > A menu appears which allws yu t select ne f the standard settings fr viewing and listening. > Current shws yur current settings fr viewing and listening. > If yu select Natural, it allws yu t set yur picture, sund and ambilight settings t the recmmended standard values. In mst cases this will give the best balanced viewing experience. > If yu select Vivid, it allws yu t set yur picture, sund and ambilight settings t rich values, making use f the TV capabilities t its full extend. > If yu select Subtle, it allws yu t set yur picture, sund and ambilight settings t the purest representatin f the riginal surce cntent. 2. Press the green clur key t stre the selected setting. Nte: string a standard setting will verwrite yur current settings fr viewing and listening. Individual settings fr picture, sund and ambilight. < Select Picture, Sund r Ambilight and press the cursr right. > A menu appears which allws yu t fine tune the picture, sund and ambilight settings. > T adjust the Picture settings, see Adjust picture menu settings, p. 15. > T adjust the Sund settings, see Adjust sund menu settings, p. 18. > T adjust the Ambilight settings, see Enjy Ambilight, p. 20.

The picture menu cntains the settings that affect the quality f the picture. 1. Press the MU/BROWSE key n the remte cntrl. > The main menu appears. 2. Select and press the cursr right. > The is mved t the left. 3. Select TV settings and press the cursr right. > The TV settings menu is mved t the left panel. 4. Select Picture and press the cursr right. > The Picture menu is mved t the left panel. 5. Use the cursr up/dwn t select the Picture menu items. 6. Press the cursr right t enter the selected Picture menu item. 7. Use the cursr keys t adjust the settings. 8. Press the cursr left t return t the Picture menu. Cntrast Adjusts the intensity f bright parts in the picture but keep the dark parts unchanged. Brightness Adjusts the light utput f the cmplete picture, which will mainly affect the darker areas f the picture. Clur Adjusts the saturatin level f the clurs t suit yur persnal preference. Hue Cmpensates fr the clur variatins in NTSC encded transmissins. Sharpness Adjusts the sharpness f fine details in the picture. Tint Increases r decreases Warm (red) and Cl (blue) clurs t suit persnal preferences. < Select Cl t give the white clurs a blue, Nrmal t give the white clurs a neutral, Warm t give the white clurs a red tint. < Select Custm t make a custmised setting in the Custm tint menu item. 15

Natural Mtin Clear LCD Dynamic cntrast... Custm tint (nly when Tint is set t Custm) Fine tunes the white pint (WP) and black level (BL) f the picture. 1. Select Custm tint and press the cursr right. 2. Use the cursr keys t select and adjust the settings f: R-WP: allws yu t custmise the clur tint by adjusting the red whitepint f the picture. G-WP: allws yu t custmise the clur tint by adjusting the green whitepint f the picture. B-WP: allws yu t custmise the clur tint by adjusting the blue whitepint f the picture. R-BL: allws yu t custmise the clur tint by adjusting the red blacklevel f the picture. G-BL: allws yu t custmise the clur tint by adjusting the green blacklevel f the picture. 3. Use the clur keys t reset t the predefined settings. 4. Press the cursr left t return t the Picture menu. Pixel Plus Pixel Plus is the mst ideal setting, as it fully prcesses the image t make every single pixel the best it can be, imprving cntrast, sharpness, picture depth, and clur reprductin and brilliance frm every surce, including High Definitin. < Select On r Off in rder t activate/de-activate Pixel plus. Digital Natural Mtin Reduces the field and line flicker and reprduces smth mvement especially in mvies. < Select Off, Minimum f Maximum in rder t really see the difference in picture quality. Clear LCD Clear LCD results in superir sharpness f mtin reprductin, better black level,high cntrast with a flicker-free, quiet image and a larger viewing angle. Dynamic cntrast Autmatically makes the cntrast in the darker and the brighter picture areas mre nticeable as the image n the screen changes. < Nrmally select Medium.
