1 Guide t Using Dnvan Lunge Technlgy There are 3 main ways t use the technlgy: - Lcal cmputer (munted behind the TV) - Laptp (with HDMI cable in the technlgy bag) - Prjectr See belw fr details n cnnecting using each methd. If yu run int any prblems r want t use ther features, please cnsult with the Department Staff r Michael Gd (gdmp@unc.edu) fr assistance. IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. Please make sure t lgut after yu re finished. 2. Return all equipment t the technlgy bag. 3. Turn ff the TV when yu re finished. 4. Sund cmes ut f the speakers n the wall, nt the TV. T use the Lcal Cmputer: The cmputer is behind the TV (see pht belw) and perates like any ther desktp cmputer. This is the best ptin fr cnference calls because f the webcam that captures the entire rm 1. Please find the TV remte in the technlgy bag, and turn n the TV 2. Lgin t the cmputer with yur ONYEN and passwrd. If this is yur first time lgging in, it may take a few minutes t lad yur prfile. 3. Use the wireless keybard and muse as nrmal. The muse als serves as a clicker fr PwerPint slides, s yu can mve arund the rm t sme degree with it. The screen is blank when I g t use the PC Make sure the TV is n. Make sure HDMI is set. Make sure the PC is turned n. It is lcated behind the mnitr n the lwer right side. If the pwer is ff, there will be NO green lights. In this case, reach up and hit the pwer buttn. It is a circular buttn n the frnt f the cmputer at the bttm.

2 T Use a Laptp: 1. Find the TV remte, and turn n the TV 2. Plug the laptp int the HDMI cable available in the technlgy bag. a. The HDMI prt is lcated n the wall beneath the televisin screen t the left. b. DO NOT plug in the HDMI directly t the screen. 3. Yur laptp screen shuld nw be shwing n the mnitr and yu can use yur laptp as yu nrmally wuld. 4. Fr users with a MAC laptp withut HDMI capabilities, we recmmend yu use the Departmental laptp, available in the main ffice. The laptp isn t shwing up n the mnitr Make sure the TV is n. Make sure HDMI is set. T check this, use the TV remte and press the Surce buttn until yu are n HDMI. Make sure everything is plugged in crrectly and is fastened securely On a PC laptp, press Windws+P, which will display a series f screen display ptins n the right-hand side. Selecting Duplicate, Extend, r Secnd Screen shuld cause it t display n the mnitr. On a Mac laptp, CMD + F1 shuld autmatically set yur laptp up fr mirrring t the mnitr. Fr additinal ptins, click n the Apple in the upper left-hand crner and select System Prperties. Frm there, select Displays and yu will see a variety f ptins that shuld cnnect yu.

3 N sunds is transmitting Check the vlume settings n the laptp (bttm right) Prjectr: The prjectr is nly accessible with a laptp. We recmmend yu use screen and cmputer; hwever, the prjectr is readily available fr larger viewing needs. 1. Turn n the prjectr with the new remte. 2. Fllw Steps 1-4 fr laptp use (abve) 3. Pull dwn the prjectin screen with available rd. Vide Cnferencing: The main cmputer is linked t the vide cnferencing technlgy. 1. Turn n and lgin t the cmputer as described abve. 2. Lgin t yur vide cnferencing applicatin f chice (Skype, Ggle Hanguts [use different brwsers fr the plugins], Zm). The camera will activate nce yu select a vide cnferencing prgram. a. The plug (red) is lcated n a hk n the wall behind the screen n the left. Be VERY careful as yu plug the cable in. b. First time users will need t dwnlad the Skype Classic prgram n the desktp. It is nt autmatically installed n under yur prfile. 3. Mve the speaker system t best capture the vices in the rm

4 a. There are extendable micrphnes, if necessary. They will plug int the back f the Lgitech speaker. 4. Use the small remte t cntrl the camera and audi features. a. The remte will allw yu t rtate the camera r zm in, as needed. It will als cntrl speaker vlume. b. Pint the remte at the camera t change the zm 5. Make sure the cnferencing applicatin is synched with the audi and visual a. On Skype i. Tls-Optins-Audi r Vide Check-Ech Speakerphne N sund Turn up the vlume n the prtable speaker r with the speaker remte, NOT the TV remte
