3 November 1, November 30, 2018 Theater Art Gallery NOV ARTIST RECEPTION/SHOW The Theater Art Gallery 756 Plumas Street 05:00 PM - 07:00 PM PST Rosalynd Bliss, rozjb@comcast.net In November The Theater Art Gallery in Yuba City opens with works by the gallery s five resident artists: ROSALYND BLISS, D.ELLEN DAY, LUISA LEGER, PAUL SPOTO, and JANET TODD. This will be a delightful pre-holiday show featuring fine art paintings, ceramics, sculptures, and jewelry. The Artist Reception is Thursday, November 1, from 5-7 pm. Sample complimentary refreshments while you chat with the artists and enjoy the art show and sale. Admission to the gallery is always free, with a new art exhibit on view each month. Located under the striped awning at 756 Plumas Street in downtown Yuba City next to the Sutter Theater, gallery hours are 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday - Saturday, and Wednesday by appointment. The November show continues to the end of the month. For the last ten years ROSALYND BLISS has been designing and making jewelry inspired by the natural world, the stars, and her trips to Italy. Her passion is creating wearable art in her jewelry line Stelle Italian Designs. The pieces she creates are made with dichroic and Murano glass, Swarovski crystals, natural gems and stones. Her work reveals a kind of simple elegance, and she particularly enjoys making custom designs for individuals. Originally studying art in Spain, LUISA LEGER has been a multi-media artist for many years. She is known for her paintings of local and international scenes, historical buildings, wetland wildlife, and the Sutter Buttes. Her artwork is semi-impressionistic, often inspired by nature, and painted in acrylics and watercolors. She enjoys painting on location and welcomes commission work. After retiring from teaching, D.ELLEN DAY has devoted her time to painting. Many of her pieces are inspired by nature. She employs bold, bright colors to depict both natural scenes as well as abstract images. Decades of painting and professional training have shaped her skills in using acrylics, oils, and watercolors. As gallery ceramicist, PAUL SPOTO has been working with clay for the past eight years. An almond farmer with an abundance of almond wood available to him, he began firing his clay creations in self-constructed wood ovens. His pottery is reduction-fired for interesting clay and glaze effects. When throwing on the potter s wheel, he emphasizes the form and function of each piece. Using clay and multi-media, JANET TODD creates sculptures full of charm and originality. Her innovative and often whimsical work is called Art with Attitude, and this is easily understood upon viewing her enchanting and captivating figures. She delights in watching her viewers reactions to her artwork. The Theater Art Gallery is open every week, Thursday through Saturday, from noon to 5:00 p.m., and Wednesday by appointment only. Call or Proceeds from The Theater Art Gallery benefit the Sutter Performing Arts Association s effort to renovate the Sutter Theater, turning it into a viable community center. For more information, please visit our website at: call , or follow The Theater Art Gallery on Facebook. Page 3/15
